Rogers Nextbox PVR & 4642HD not seeing all the same recorded shows

I've Been Here Awhile

Had these two boxes for months. Lately seeing that the list of recorded programs when viewed on the 4642HD is missing episodes or complete shows as compared to the list on the PVR itself.

Any fixes for this? Just rebooting both. Tried unplugging both. No difference.

Reboot would be my first guess..  I have the same setup at home.. i can check tonight hopefuly and see if mine are showing up ok.

Only other thing i could think of.. would be to unplug the HD box.. then delete a show.. leave it for a good period of time, then let it boot back up, and then try to see whats there.. hopefuly it might force a refresh.

Hi,

 

  I was just wondering if you solved this issue since I am experiencing the same problem with my 4642,  I can only see about half of my recordings.  I am getting very tired of this Rogers experience.

I don't know about the other person, but I just checked on both of my hd boxes and they are showing the recordings correctly, about 2 pages worth.

Have had the two for about a week now and finding the exact same thing.  AND DON'T delete a program that is part of a series because it will delete the entire series recording schedule and then tell you it EXISTS if you try to put it back.

 

NO ONE AT ROGERS SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO RESOLVE THIS.  Been told several times "have a low signal that is one way" yet each time a senior tech comes out the levels are within specs ("normal" as he called it) so the boxes don't get replaced and told "it must be a glitch".

I have setup the new Remote TV Manager mobile app on my ipad to control my two PVRs.  It worked fine for one day.  I renamed each PVR according to room location and also noted that each listed on the mobile app via My Rogers account the exact recorded programs I keep on each PVR.  24 hours later, I opened the mobile app to control one of my PVR and could not find my PVR recorded lists, but instead saw the list of recorded programs from another PVR most likely in my neighborhood.  I phoned Rogers to report this issue (serious privacy concerns) and was passed from TV technical to Internet to Wireless and told no one could address this issue.  I have serious concerns that someone else has access to my information.  Anyone else have the same problem?

Sounds like someone forgot a MOCA filter!

Glad to know I'm not the only one seeing that. Thankfully we kept our Scientific Atlantic unit and moved it to the other TV. It has all the old recordings so if it doesn't get captured on the NetBox we get it on the other TV.

 

If it wasn't for need of additional disk space I wouldn't be keeping the new box.

You can get one of the old extenders, for the old box.

As well, if you call rogers, you can also have them revert the nextbox, to the OLD guide as well.  BE WARNED, when reverting back to the old guide, there is almost 100% chance of loosing all your recordings, so watch them first.

I have and 8642, with an extender on it.

When i added it, the PVR, had about a week of stuff, not all HD on it, and was almost 30% full. and we were going away for 2 weeks.
Adding the extender on it.. it went down to 2%.

 

I currently have about a weeks worth of TV (a fair bit HD), and about 10+ hd movies.. and am only at maybe 28%.

I'm more worried about the internal unit itself. It was purchased in 2004 and showing it's age. Slight disk noises, etc. I'm trying to decide more do I fix this or look at alternatives to Rogers.

Well, at least manualy, you can replace the drive in there.. no guarantees.
Well out of warranty, so there are limited options.

 

Again, with the new box, if thats the way you descide, you can always revert to the old guide (at least currently).

 

Other than that.. its your call if you move or not.. you have to do what is right for you.  Some people, that is moving. 

Check whats available in your area.  (IE: fibe is getting good reviews.. BUT its not avail in all areas).  Go to the stores, and look for LIVE demos.  Check out the other boxes, the other menu systems, try them out before you choose.  You might find them just as bad or worse.

Compare FULL prices as well.. dont look at the 'shiney' intro pricing.. as after X period, that will be gone.  Look at the core price, you will pay after that, for rental/purchases of boxes, for the services and extra channels, etc.

I am having the same problem! My NextBoxes worked perfectly for about a month, then the second box (non-PVR) started just showing a random selection of my recordings each time I turned it on! Several calls to Rogers, several reboots of the systems, and a technician at my house have done nothing to fix this. The technician says to call billing, who just sends out another technician who says everything looks fine! Really getting tired of this and rethinking the whole NextBox idea...

I started noticing the same issue recently.  I have one PVR and 2 Netbox.  Both Netbox only show a partial list, and it's the same partial list.  I have done several reboots to no avail.

 

Further testing I noticed that when I am looking at the recording by name, it lists the alphabetically from A to Z.  All the shows are there from A to approx the first folder starting with T and then nothing after that.  I also had douzens of episodes in each folder.  So I started to deleted older episodes that I had already seen (this is a pain to do and very slow).  I went from being 30% full to approx 24%.  To my surprise, a second folder with the letter T appeared but still nothing after that.

 

I have a feeling that there is limit of how many shows can be listed in the 4642HD.  And if I deleted all my folders from A to D for example, the rest of the shows will show up.  This could be a memory limitation on the box or a firmware upgrade maybe required to allow unlimited shows to be listed.

 

This is a major issue for rogers and hope they fix this soon.

Having a similar issue, one box working fine, the other shows absolutely no recordings whatesoever. Have tried unplugging/rebooting multiple times.

While it may not do anything, its worth getting a tech out, doesn't cost anything, and see what's up. I had that initially on one of my boxes, signal was too weak, booster installed and works fine now.
