Rogers First Rewards

Rogers has introduced a new loyalty program called Rogers First Rewards. From what I can see, it will replace the Better Choice Bundles discounts.

http://www.rogers.com/cms/pdf/en/Better-Choice-Bundles.pdf

If you previously subscribed to the Better Choice Bundles discounts, you could could earn up to 12% in discounts depending on how many services you subscribed to. Of course, if you got a better retention discount, you would lose the Better Choice Bundles discount. However, the point is that the Better Choice Bundles discount will be grandfathered UNLESS you sign up for Rogers First Rewards. You have to read the fine print!

Better Choice Bundles™ Customers. You acknowledge that if you currently participate in the Rogers Better Choice Bundles program or other discount program, and you are otherwise eligible for the Program, you may enroll in the Program. However, you acknowledge and agree that once you enroll in the Program you will no longer be eligible for any Rogers Better Choice Bundles discount or other applicable discount, and such discount will automatically be discontinued for all Rogers services and accounts under your name as of the start of your next billing cycle. Once you have stopped participating in the Rogers Better Choice Bundles program, you will not be able to re-enroll.

Judging by the comments on another forum, the First Rewards program is not very good.

It does not surprise me in the least that when Rogers introduces something new that they take something away in order to get it. Past experience would suggest that whatever they take away is usually better than whatever will replace it. So just a cautionary note: BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU SIGN UP FOR THE NEW PROGRAM. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR BETTER CHOICE BUNDLES DISCOUNT AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET IT BACK!

Hello Moxy

Its only for upgrades. You can't use the for Outright purchases unfortunately. You can use them towards your flextab

Reality is ... if customer has the 12% Better Choice Bundle Discount, how does the Rogers First Rewards benefit them?

Giving up 12% for a measely 1%?

How long does it take to accumulate enough points for a US Travel Pack ( US Combo Travel Pack: 40+Unlimited - 1500 POINTS)?

For a PLATINUM CUSTOMER @ $200 a month, 400pts a month = 4 months ... but translated with the 12% BCB it becomes SAVINGS OF $96 ($24 a month for 4 months) ...

The 40+Unlimited US Combo can no longer be purchased with the closest thing being a Travel Pack with 100min+Unlimited SMS @ $40 ... so .... essentially it takes the customer 4 months to SAVE $40 with the Rogers First Rewards ... but under the BCB the customer SAVES $96 over 4 months ... what is more beneficial for the customer?

Stay on the BCB for 2 months already enough savings to PURCHASE the US Travel Pack and still have $8 left over for something else ...

What's even more funny is that it needs 7500 points to redeem for US Combo Travel Pack 60 Unlimited (60min + Unlimited SMS) ... same calculation ... 19 months to accumulate 7500 points the Travel Pack that has 100min+Unlimited SMS) @ $40 ... but over 19 months using the 12% BCB the customer saved $456 ...

Mathematics and reality.

Hello TigerEROS

It all comes down to the customers and what they decide to do. I know many that picked the Rogers First Rewards and left the Better Bundle Discounts and are happy with that choice as they can now use points on their phones / PPV. Some others are upset as they lost the BBD. Its all up to what u want in the end.

Also you have to look, that about a year ago I think, all new customers no longer got better choice bundles. It's a grandfathered thing.
This system benefits them as they were getting nothing.

Hello Gdkitty

That is correct. As far as i know no new customer can get the better bundle discount. They either have a choice of the first rewards program or a small discount they get from Rogers when speaking to them

I agree 100% with TigerEROS. A  potential 12% discount is far better than anything that could come from Rogers First Rewards. A customer who chooses to give up the BCB discount in favour of the new Rewards program is likely someone who failed high school math.

It is also interesting to note that Rogers is now promoting the new Rewards program on their Facebook page and I see no warnings about the potential loss of the Better Choice Bundles discount. Sorry, but this is just not right!

While I do agree that the Rewards program is better than nothing for those that never had BCB to begin with, surely it must be obvious why Rogers has replaced BCB with First Rewards - it will cost them less!

Most adds it seems like are geared towards more NEW clients, etc.. which they dont get the BCB anyways..

But it SHOULD be more upfront about the loss of them.

At least it DOES explain it in the FAQ/Fine print.

We shouldnt HAVE to look in there for it.... but its a good rule of thumb, for ANY product or service you are going to sign up for.. is to make sure to read the FAQ, Fine print, Terms of Service, etc... BEFORE signing/agreeing to anything.

I've Been Around

On Tues Jun 10, I thought I used 1300 points to upgrade 80GB to 120GB usage for the final day and it did show that I had indeed upgraded for that day (period was from May 11 - Jun 10), but the points did not decrease on the site, and now for this billing period (Jun 11 - Jul 10), I still have 120 GB but my bill has increased? I thought using FirstReward points did not affect bills. What's going on?

I have yet to USE any rewards..

I am GUESSING it might be due to the day you did it.

Since you did it on the LAST day... it may take a few days, for the CREDIT to process..
I am guessing it got processes on that day.. but then your billing cycle ends, and the credit will appear after.

So your next bill, would then have the credit? (even though on regular charges)

yes read the fine print. i just got an email telling me about this wonderful rewards program and the "free" spins and draws etc but to sign up for it I need to waive the discount I currently have. What a sleazy promo!

Yes if you have a discount the Rewards program is not likely a good deal for you. For those loyal customers who have been paying full shot without access to discounts unless they upgrade or add services, the program is a nice little crumb.

To be honest. I like this program. I already have $110 worth of point to do a upgrade which will cost me $110 less when getting a new device when upgrading.. This reminds me of the Fido Dollars which they use but this is points instead of dollars.

Many will have different views and opinions on this program and if it's not a program you like, simply don't accept it. If u accepted it without reading the fine print its the end users fault not Rogers per say.

Can we use Rogers reward points to do a hardware upgrade if the cell plan is a corporate personal plan?

Re: Rogers First Rewards

That is a very good question..

You might be best to ask on Facebook/Twitter directly to rogers... since this is all user to user, and we dont have all the answers 🙂

Re: Rogers First Rewards

From my experience with Rogers on Facebook and Twitter, they don't have any answers either! LOL

Re: Rogers First Rewards

I have always had good luck with them, but thats usually just for minor account things (adding a box, etc)

just saying, they will have more of a chance of knowing, than us users 😛 🙂

as far as I know that program only applies to consumer postpaid subscribers

Re: Rogers First Rewards

I believe they are at liking about... Where you get a corp price cut plan for working for company x, but it's still a personal, not business account.

Re: Rogers First Rewards

it can be business-personal... or other variations... which doesn't make it consumer 🙂 I am usually a stickler when it comes to marketing definitions - sorry about that... but I bet $20 charlo1108 won't get the reward points
