I also feel upset about the 2.2 delay.....  Rogers Chinese dealers (Radio ads)  were advertising Captivate  with 2.2 during October launch.

It seem mis-leading to me unless  2.2  is a ready & available feature  for Captivate.

ROGER   PLEASE !!    speed-up 2.2  upgrades  !!

Be careful what you wish for, most Froyo users on Rogers are experiencing problems with location services using the Rogers Network...

Offical   2.2  seem working  smoothly (improved greatly)  on my friend's  Bell  Galaxy   (non-hacked)

Nothing like  the Crazy web-rumor about   2.2 update  will brick the phone.

Now its up to Roger's support  to catch-up (no more BS & delays please).

Hey, not sure if this will affect the Captivate update:

http://mobilesyrup.com/2010/12/17/samsung-temporarily-suspending-galaxy-s-os-2-2-upgrade/

Maybe explains why there is a delay with Rogers' release of this update.  Let's hope that when we get the update, all these issues are resolved....

Rogers  please release when you are sure it is ready.  I don't want a brick for Christmas.

Its been re-released http://pages.samsung.com/ca/froyo/English/ seems they fixed the issues. Rogers will get left behind as usual. I will just wait for someone at XDA to mess with the froyo update for Fascinate or Vibrant and release it for Captivate.

Same thing I did with the my daughters LG Eve which is running 2.1 Android and Rogers just released 1.6 ROFL.

I understand that many think that Rogers is being left behind, BUT for many of us they are the only choice.

In Winnipeg the other big cell phone company MTS has gone all Blackberry (for new smart phones), and a Galaxy S phone is not available with any Android Version.

Do I want Froyo for my 2 Captivates?   **bleep** straight I do.   Do I think Rogers is purposly holding it back just to be mean to me?  No....  I would rather they be careful.

There are a bunch of bricked Galaxy S phones at the companies that were not careful.

How can I help?  I would like to be a part of testing.  I design and test software for a living.

there ya go,, let joe test it,,, im sure he is faster,,

delete this post also,,, truth hurts huh rogers

Re: Froyo (2.2) on Captivate

unfortunatly people are resorting to Rooting their devices and running froyo with an ATT ROM. Works fine, wish rogers would just pick up the slack a bit.

@community

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year.

Rogers tests all OS upgrades provided by handset manufacturers before we release them to our customers. In our extensive testing of an OS upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy Captivate, we uncovered an issue with the software provided by Google that affects data-based location services. To ensure the best experience for our customers, we’ve decided to hold back the release of this update to ensure all issues are corrected. We’re working with Samsung and Google to fix the issue so we can release the upgrade soon as possible.

Thanks for your patience, be sure to check out our RedBoard blog (http://redboard.rogers.com) and Twitter page (http://twitter.com/#!/RogersBuzz) for further updates.

Cheers!

Hi  ncrossley

There is nothing to be exciting about the latest reply from the officals,  it is recycled comments from Mid-DEC

http://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/forums/forumtopicpage/board-id/Samsung/thread-id/392/page/2

In another-words ,  have seen any real progress , since the Mid-Dec  delay  !?

 Mr  RogerE

Please get  us  some  real updates from your software team  ?

Thanks in advance

I'm Here A Lot

Well that was just plain wrong, I guess posting on this board is an act in futility. Seems Rogers only lets you say what they want you to say. I would think Rooting would not be a touchy subject as it would essentially wave all right to customer warranty so rogers would basicly make money from people bricking their phones.

Bad policy rogers, removing posts is never a good way to show your willingness to co-operate with your customers. *SIGH*
