ROGERS HURRY UP! Update Samsung devices with Ice Cream Sandwich already!

This long wait/no information from Rogers is getting pathetic! I have been considering buying a Samsung Galaxy S III from Rogers because I already own a Galaxy S and a Galaxy Tab 10.1. Samsung Canada has already announced in May that they have pushed out the update for the Tab as well as many other Samsung offerings to Canadian carriers. If Rogers does not give us official information about ICS and push out an update soon, I will be switching carriers to one that actually gives updates to its customers in a timely manner and suggest you do too. If you are fed up with waiting, please reply to this thread and tell Rogers that you are dissatisfied with their service.

Ugh, the title got cut off so I thought this thread was announcing that ICS was out for Samsung devices.

 

They've heard us loud and clear that we're not happy being left in the dark about ICS. There's already two or three long threads. They just aren't listening.

Just making sure they know there is outrage for more than the SII LTE owners. Sorry about the confusion with the title, I fixed it!

I understand you are upset and all seeing as i am upset my S 2 LTE has not gotten the ICS updatebut why can u NOT post it in one of the other 10 threads made about the same topic? Honestly i am tired of seeing people make a thread already made about the same topic. Please next time post the comment in the other thread already made.

Because there is no thread mentioning all samsung devices, and non that I can find for the Tab 10.1. When you search Google, you are brought to the thread about the SII, not to mention it is the first thread in this list. I do not want to go through hundreds of pages in a subject not about my device to hopefully find mention of it too. This is a generalization thread, and seriously, wouldn't you agree that the more threads created about how people are unhappy about not receiving ICS from Rogers, the better? Or would you rather take a more passive approach because it is filling up your favorite message board with posts?

 

I pay more than enough to Rogers every month to have the right to start my own thread to show how dissatisfied I am with them.

I completely agree with you.. Everyone has the right to post whatever they want and voice their discontent

That doesn't mean you can't start another thread as long as Rogers keep ignoring us like they've done nothing wrong

I will most likely leave Rogers for another carrier together with my whole family once my contract ends and I'm saying most likely not definitely is that the only thing that'll keep me is for Rogers to change their policy while I'm under contract

The problem is that Rogers know how unhappy their customers are and heard the discontent loud and clear but choose to ignore us.. They keep forgetting that all they have is their customers and once that's gone, they have nothing and this goes for all the carriers, not just Rogers

Thank you, and I couldn't have said it better. I know a lot of people who recommend Bell because they give better service.

Seriously?  I've seen at least a hundred posts over various threads over several weeks wthout a single reply from your Social Media team.  Were you guys calling people at home?  I didn't get a call...

 

What little information has been made available to you?  Because no matter how little, it certainly more than what you've made available to us.   Otherwise, even this post is moot because it basically says, "Yes we see how irritated you guys are, but we still aren't going to give you any information..."

How is it that you don't have an estimate?  You must have project managers that work with I.T. to develop estimates and budgets before starting a project like testing Rogers apps with ICS update.  If Rogers isn't holding information back then does that mean this work hasn't even been evaluated yet?  Not started?

 

Why is it companies can never just give us straight talk.  Always spin.  It's likely the reality is that Rogers has estimates but is afraid of backlash if they release a date and don't meet it.  Why not say that?  Or 'pad' your estimate?  Double it??  Just give a fricking date so people have an IDEA.  Instead you expect us to believe you have no idea like we're **bleep**.  I would at least appreciate an honest answer "We don't want to release the date" as opposed to obvious BS.

 

Its discouraging imagining you don't even have an estimate when other telcos have already released their updates.  What good is a smartphone if the OS is always going to be 6 months out of date?

 

This will be a serious consideration when I choose my next phone.

Don't shoot the messenger.... It sounded like good honest feedback. If you work for a big company, you'll know how information flows in a big company. I really don't believe that Rogers_Kelly knows the answer. What I do believe is that feedback is being sent up the ladder.

I have some feedback that I hope travels up.

Timely updates are important to the perceived value that a carrier delivers to it's customers. Contracts are typically two and a half years and you get a new phone. Customers expect the newest firmware on their phones sooner because that is better value during the contract period for longer. That is bottom line value. Rogers GS2 customers know that Bell GS2 customers got ICS long time ago... That's not good for business.

I agree. We pay the highest wireless rates in the world. I think we deserve better service.

Why would you "tweet" when the ICS update is finally dusted off and given to us, just contact the people paying your wages and let them know in a very polite way, that although Rogers has been dishonest and ignorant to it's Samsung clients, that you've finally released it. Not everyone "TWEETS"

That's what you get for buying a half-breed frankenstein LTE phone from Rogers instead of the vanilla-stock international HSPA+ model Bell sold.

Just because your carrier calls it a 'Galaxy S2' doesn't mean it really is one.

It's done, as of last Sunday (July 22,2012), I've upgraded successfully to Android 4.04 on my Samsung Galaxy Note.

I received my upgrade today. Just happened to pick up my Note and there was a message on the sreen saying "Upgrade Available". I just clicked on the download button and 15 minutes later.....ICS is sweeeet!

I was greeted this morning with a notice on the screen of my Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G telling me there was an update available for my device. I am happy to say that I am now running Ice Cream Sandwich and it installed OTA/works great. Thank you for the eventual release timeline Rogers, and thanks for the update.

Yup got my update as well this morning. The update was rolled on Telus, Bell & Rogers at once.

I'm bored, I'm gonna switch to Telus, Roger's doesnt care about it customers anyway. Mind you neither do any of the Carriers in North America. ... things are different in Europe. The competition there means they have to care
