Re: Outgoing mail server question

Had to try and use a spare Rogers email address to try and set one up via pop since I no longer have any set up that way.

Entering the pop info fresh, no other settings, it did auto pull the new setting or something. As like you I found no server port location, but it did send ok.

So bar re-setting up your email account on there I am not sure 😞

One option at that point would be to move over to the imap settings then. You click on the yahoo choice in the add new account, just enter your Rogers login info. It auto configures everything.
On advantage to using this setting, is whenever you delete something it removed it on the server as well, always syncs everything, so wouldn't potentially receive it again if you collect mail on more than one client.

Re: Outgoing mail server question

Is your iPad connected to the cellular network? or a Wifi only model?

If it's a Cellular+Wifi model try using the following Outgoing Server Info:

Host Name: smtp.rogerswirelessdata.com

Username: (Leave Empty)

Password: (Leave Empty)

Use SSL: OFF

Server Port: 25 (if required)

You may not require all of this information but better to have just in case.

Cheers!

Re: Outgoing mail server question

I have an iPad2 and iPad3 both are wifi + 3g/4g and am having real problems getting email sent from wifi. just about any setting I use for the outgoing email gets a LONG "verifying" delay then a "not responding" notification.

Re: Outgoing mail server question

should just be

incomming: pop.broadband.rogers.com

outgoing: smtp.broadband.rogers.com

I have that set on my iphone, and will both send/receive on both wireless and cellular.

Re: Outgoing mail server question

I have the same settings as Gdkitty on my iPhone and it always works perfectly. When my phone was new, the server settings defaulted to something to do with Yahoo and I was having trouble, so changed my settings to match the ones I use on my computer. End of problem.

Re: Outgoing mail server question

I have an iPad2 with WiFi and I can't send mail from my @rogers.com account since Rogers implemented SSL encryption recently.  I'm using pop.broadband.rogers.com as my incoming server with port 995.  That works fine.  I'm using smtp.broadband.rogers.com as my outgoing server but I can't find any place to enter the port 465 setting.  Sent e-mails get an error message as follows: "Cannot Send Mail ... The connection to the outgoing server 'smtp.broadband.rogers.com' failed.  Additional Outgoing Mail Servers can be configured in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars".

Please help!
