Notice to upgrade Rogers Yahoo mail

Got an email Yahoo member service saying that the Classic version of Rogers Yahoo mail will be replaced with a new version and after Sept 27, 2014  the classic version won't be supported

If i want to keep getting my emails I have to upgrade

I am using Windows Live Mail and presently use expolrer 11

I believe windows live mail uses Yahoo

Will I have to upgrade or can I ignore this

Don't want to lose all my contacts and emails

Thanks

Re: Notice to upgrade Rogers Yahoo mail

I beleive that is only talking about checking your mail via WEBMAIL.

There is the newer updated.. and a older (actually more prefered) classic version.

Currently you can kind of switch back to the classic.

I guess after the cuttoff date, you wont be able to anymore... 100% gone.

That you are collecting via windows live mail.. you should be ok.

Re: Notice to upgrade Rogers Yahoo mail

Webmail, is accessing your email via the webpage login (like hotmail does, etc).

You SHOULDNT loose everything.. but may be worth just loging in, and updating things anyways, just to make sure.

Log in with your email address, and whatever your email password is.

It will likely try to PROMPT you to upgrade from the classic, etc.

Re: Notice to upgrade Rogers Yahoo mail

Webmail is where you use a web browser to access your email rather than a specific application like Outlook, Outlook Express, Live Mail, the mail app on your smartphone/tablet, etc.

You said that you use Live Mail so you should be fine and be unaffected by this unless you occasionally use a web browser to check your email - like if you are away on vacation.

Why do you mention Hotmail as I don't think Hotmail is any different than Yahoo! Mail or Gmail on this.  I am pretty sure that you can access it via IMAP/SMTP with programs like Outlook. etc.

Re: Notice to upgrade Rogers Yahoo mail

Correct.

I was just giving an example of an email provider many are familiar with having a web interface for. (From the start)
