My largest concern however is I'm seeing a data leakage. Let me know if anyone else notices. It will take some time to monitor through Data Sense. But I've been seeing large chunks of data being used even while connected to wifi. This is what concerns me. I have a 6GB plan with Rogers and I have 9 days to go until it renews. I received a 80% usage text this morning from Rogers. I checked Data Sense and it says I have 600MB remaining. Funny part was I was at 1.63GB remaining Friday night and I've been connected to wifi 95% of the weekend. When I wasn't I used Nokia Drive for less than 10 min. And sent a few emails and texts. I don't use Xbox Music and I have Pics and Vids to upload ONLY by wifi. So there's something funny happening here.
Is the data sense app not telling you which app is tearing through all that data, or do you think it is the operating system or something? I definitely have not experienced anything like that thus far. I'll let you know if I do though.
**Edit: Nevermind, I just read your post on wpcentral. That is very interesting. I mean, I rarely ever touch my 1gb limit, never mind 6gb. I don't think it has anything to do with telling wifi to stay connected. When I'm, say, downloading a bunch of songs on xbox music, if I've started the download on wifi, the wifi does not cut off when the screen times out. It keeps downloading using wifi until it's done downloading all the songs I selected, which makes sense. Same thing when streaming music, at least through xbox music. Microsoft would have a disaster on it's hands if wifi silently cut out during streaming when the screen isn't on. Wifi, as far as I've experienced, only cuts out on a screen time out if it isn't being used.

Unfortunately I cannot attach any pics here so for anyone who wants to see what I'm referring to you can see my post here: Wifi issues. It seems that some others and myself have found that data is still being used even when wifi is showing as enabled. It could be that after the phone has been to sleep for sometime (perhaps a couple hours) a bug is preventing it from staying connected to wifi. Wifi will still display as being active, but data will be used instead. But in regards to what you were saying, no, wifi will never stop being used while in the middle of downloading or steaming. That would be a different problem altogether. 90% of my data is being used in the category of "Media Streaming". It does show a breakdown of the apps underneath but those are using very minimal data in comparison.

Ah man , that's too bad. I most definitely have not had a problem like that yet. What are your bettery life times looking like? I can't imagine this issue is helping with that. I have lte turned off, and I get some pretty ridiculus good times. On medium use here, my device will easily make it two full days, with plenty to spare. If I hadnt downloaded 6gb of music over wifi, I reckon I could have gotten this thing to last 3 days (I might still, actually). Aside from having lte off, I don't do anything else to save battery. I have double tap to wake, I have glance on peek, I have a ton of updating live tiles, two syncing email accounts, have done plenty texting/emails/redditing/skype, and a wack of other stuff going on.

Well keep an eye on it especially if you stay connected to wifi most of the time life I do. It will take a good week or so for you to notice anything funny.
As for battery life I feel it's good for me. I consider myself a heavy user so for me to compare my usage to yourself would be difficult especially if we have set up our phones differently. I've already determined that the read out of "remaning battery life" on the phone itself is very inaccurate. This lead to most of my madness. With much lighter use I'm sure I could go maybe 2 days max on this phone based on my settings. However the largest battery drain I experience is from gaming and streaming. I have the battery app which gives me toast notifications when I'm seeing battery drain. If I stream HD video I'll lost about 6% in 20 min. I also haven't figured out if closing background tasks (by holding the back button and hitting the "X") actually improves battery, since it's from preventing additional drain from other apps running. Last night I gamed on Asphalt 8 for about 2 hrs or a little less (on full brightness, and sound at level 15) and saw just over 50% battery loss. Not sure if that's normal or not but it's what I also experienced on my 920 so it doesn't worry me. I find sometimes battery lasts a little better at times than other times. But like I said, perhaps that's when I have no background apps running in the multitasking.

Although slow sometimes in the train, I hardly never get a disconnect as I had with my Rogers Lumia 920..

Glad you're enjoying it! Battery seems to be good again for me. Though the only thing I've disabled unless I need it is location services. I run into the occassion irritation with using the keyboard as well. I find I hit the period instead of space more often than I wish. Those are some crazy speeds you're getting. I haven't thoroughly tested my LTE speeds very much but of the 10 speed tests I've run (using the speedtest app) I don't think I've seen more than 37MBPS downloads. Are those wifi speeds? What app are you using?
Anyway I haven't figured out the reason behind my latest issue yet but it seems I'm not entirely alone. I've discovered that my Wifi connection at home is disconnecting when the screen goes to sleep. So when I power it back on and start to stream some videos or surf the net I actually end up using my data (even though it still shows me as connected to wifi). This is a HUGE issue for me and I've had to turn off my data entirely since Thursday because I am now 4MB away from going over my 6GB limit. And I still have another 3 days to go.
So far I've tried everything I possibly can on my phone to fix this aside doing a hard reset. I also read online some people speculating it could be something to do with the router itself or it's wireless settings so I played with them and tried a bunch of different settings. I will say that my wifi connection stuck twice over the weekend. But as soon as I broke it or turned wifi on and off it would end my streak and I was back to having to repeatedly turn it on or off everytime I needed to use data.
Not sure what else to do. I did consider buying an aftermarket router at Futureshop tonight but that's a $100 idea I'm not sure I'm ready to go with yet lol.

If I remember correctly Verizon is CDMA not HSPA on the 3G side and LTE for faster data so the Lumia Icon would not work on Rogers. I am deluding myself but I am holding out hope that Nokia and AT&T had a 2 month North American exclusive deal on the 1520 which would end tomorrow as At&t released theirs on November 22nd. 🙂

@Navillus wrote:Hey guys,
I've been looking at the various places I could get the 1520 from (thanks for listing those weetigo), I think the best value I've found is from ebay (Link). The seller sells the 1520(RM-937) in black, white, and yellow. With a sale price of approximately $635 CAD and free fedex priority shipping, that's the best deal I've come across. Plus, considering I live in Alberta, the duty/import fees are only about $35. So, $670 all in for a 1520 looks solid. The ebay seller seems very reputable and has good policies too, which is comforting. I may just have to take the plunge.
Also, just a shout out to those have contributed to this thread, especially Meowmix (and others like lundon44, win7463, etc.). It's been incredibly helpful reading your posts here.

Just looked and the price for that ebay listing has just jumped to $1097 ish. Ouch! Supply and demand?
Really hoping Rogers does pick it up. With a projector on it's last legs and a new paintball gun purchase coming up I can't justify paying full price for a phone right now. May be sticking with my 920 for now. Maybe Rogers is going to skip the 1520, rumor is Nokia will be announcing their Windows Phone 8.1 devices at MWC in February.
