Re: Nexus S updates to Android 2.3.6

Usually Google don't release updates for all users at the same time. You may get the update later.

Depending on what version is currently installed on your Nexus S, you may be able to download and install the update yourself.

The 2.3.6 update to the version code 'GRK39C'.

If you have the Nexus S I9020A and it's not rooted, you can try one of the following links

Just because it's an "update" doesn't necessarily mean it's worth the time to search it out and install it, especially if you're not currently having any issues:

Wonder if it's been rolled out yet - I've had my Nexus for almost a week, with all the bad press, Google may be changing their mind on this one.

Re: Nexus S updates to Android 2.3.6

Read this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056062

Specifically this section of the text:

Model: Nexus I9020A
It appears that this update is being pulled back. The Search bug was NOT fixed and it's causing a tethering issue. I will try to confirm, but people have reported that Samsung is stating that a new update should be out in about 2 weeks (By Sept 23rd). Therefor it's currently recommended that you do NOT update your phone and to wait for the "fixed" version.
GRJ22 (2.3.4) - > GRK39C (2.3.6) Released
Any I9020A Build - > GRK39C (2.3.6) Released

Re: Nexus S updates to Android 2.3.6

Don't know if mine is the only case, but since I have done this update, the Google Voice and Voice Search wont go away, I can be TXTing or trying to use the phone(calling) and this annoying "VOICE" crap will not stop popping up. GOOGLE please fix this and allow to TURN this completely OFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

I am so frustrated I want throw the DAAAMMMMMNNNNNNNN thing against the wall, renders the phone completely useless. You know for $599 you would think they would allow to turn that OFFFFFFFFFFFFF

....and my voicemail does not work anymore either, press "1" or link to get voice messages and it just hangs on me and returns me to a locked background screen....................................arrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Re: Nexus S updates to Android 2.3.6

@mbrobich I know a lot of people don't have this issue with the Nexus S.

If you're phone is rooted, I suggest you remove the GoogleVoice and Voice Search app.

Maybe CyanogenMod has already fixed the issue.

Anyway, If you don't want you're Nexus S anymore I'll be glad to take it Smiley Wink

Re: Nexus S updates to Android 2.3.6

Well, I just received OTA upgrade 2.3.6 build GRK39F, and it killed my cell network connection. I constantly get (No Service). Tried rebooting, airplane mode on-off, etc. I occasionally see a glimmer of a Rogers connection, but then it goes back to (No Service). Can't make phone calls or 3g data...

Help?
