OK so I have multiple nextboxes in my house. I do not have "whole home" set up and I do not want to set it up. In one of the bedrooms the NB3 has been freezing and I have had to reboot it several times to be able to watch a show. I didn't really care because it was in the bedroom and I usually fall alseep anyways. It has been going on for about a month.
This morning the NB3 in my living room has gone insane. It has been rebooting since 6:30 this morning. It "blows up" then it counts from "-01-", "-02-", etc... up to "-05-". Then I see "loAd" next comes "boot" and finally I get the time back on the front of the box. As long as the box is left off it is fine but as soon as I turn it on the screen freezes within 2 minutes and I am going through this whole process again.
Any suggestions? Rogers is useless!! They send a tech guy out he says its a signal problem. He puts a boaster on my line. A week later a new guy comes out and he takes it off and says the line is fine and that it should have never been put there in the first place. And so on and so forth. I am to the point that I refuse to let the cable guy in the house becasue it is clear to me that the do not know what they are talking about. If I could switch to Bell I would be gone in an instant but I rent and my housing provider will not allow the dishes to be installed on the buildings so I am stuck.
Any help would be awesome....

Usually those sorts of messages come, when its having an issue doing an update.. either just a guide update, or a system update.
While there are other things that can cause it.. it often IS signal related.
Question then, comes down to...is IF your signal is good or not... (and which tech was right/wrong).
IF the box was up but not working quite right, you could take a look at the diagnostic screen to see... but with it in the reboot state.. not as easy... Not sure if the NB3 can get into diag from bootup or not...
I'll take a peek around the net and see if i can find instructions.

Hi FanoftheGame1
Just wondering if screen freezes on all the channels or certain channels. It could be signal level issue, as signals should be like blood pressure, not high not low, needs to make sure few things;
1- Check connections from the back of the box, all secured and tigh. (no loose connection).
2- Change box resolution to 1080i. Settings>Appearance>TV output> 1080i>>SAVE>>Begin test> Keep Settings
3- Change HDMI slot from TV (if you are using HDMI cable)
______________________________________________________________
"blows up" then it counts from "-01-", "-02-", etc... up to "-05-". Then I see "loAd"
______________________________________________________________
This is normal booting process. after -05- you see Load then local time.
hope this help!!! let us know 🙂

It is on 1080i. It has been cycling like this all day with any pauses. Now it goes into the boot cycle when it is turned off as well. Super frustrated!

I understand you have two tech came in and no solution. I'll try another tech and swap the box. if you are renting.

Be sure Rogers replaces them with tested, shrink wrapped boxes, not ones that someone else has just returned.

Since 1:45am my 9865 has been rebooting every 10 minutes. Is this happening to anyone else?

I powered the box off at 3:45 so I could sleep without the blue lights coming on. I'll see what happens in the morning.

So I checked my downstairs Nextbox and it had not rebooted since Wednesday, which I had to do to solve another problem. Powered the bedroom machine on and it kept rebooting. The only solution appears to be a factory reset. Fortunately, with two boxes, I don't lose all my recordings as the boxes are 50% full.
Timing the factory reset was tight, as I had to catch it in the 2-3 minutes between the end of the "Loading" circle and the next reboot, but I managed to hit it. The reboots stopped. Unfortunately, I still had Navigatr.
I spent the next couple of hours changing my settings and re-entering the recording schedule using my old Android tablet and the Rogers app to view the scheduled recordings on my downstairs box and entering them into the Guide.
The bedroom box was factory reset in May. I figured I was due to need a factory reset on the downstairs box because of the problems with endless recordings. I didn't expect problems from this one. At least the two boxes fail for different reasons each time, so I have a chance of keeping one running while the other starts over.

This is the second time that I have had a PVR do this, is there anyway to fix the box without restting it or exchanging it? I called last night and they are sending a tech today but I am not really sure what for. I am sick of losing all my recordings.

How do you factory reboot? If you factory reboot, you lose all the recorded shows, right?
I have the same issue where the NextBox keeps rebooting itself.

Hi @Viv12,
The factory reset does delete your recorded content and settings but I usually recommend it before asking customers to exchange the box. It's done by going into the troubleshooting menu and you should see an option there for factory reset. Please let me know if you're able to find it.
Thanks,

Thank you for your quick reply. We are having a technician coming out tomorrow, we are hoping for a solution where we can keep the recordings. But good to know about the factory reset.

The technician came out last Wednesday and the Nextbox had to be replaced. Too bad since we only got it in July 2014. We were able to find most shows that were recorded on Rogers on Demand or on regular channels. We were in the middle of watching Face Off season 8, there was a marathon that we recorded. We ended up purchasing the last four episodes on iTunes.
