New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

haguuhar

I just changed from a hybrid fibre 30 (with CGN2 modem) to the Rogers Ignite 60 (with the CGN3ACSMR modem). I'm not sure why, but I now get firewall errors when I try to load up the game. The internet works fine, other than the specific case in the game. Does anyone know what is happening, or how to fix it? I have tried port forwarding, turning the modem into bridge mode, even disabling the router's firewall. None of these options have fixed the problem.

In my case specifically, I had the CGN3 about 5 months ago. It worked for the game, but not for my other hardware (I tried this in only gateway mode), hence why I ended changing back to the CGN2 (worked for both the game and the other hardware).

I don't think the CGN2 is offered anymore. I think we're forced into the CGN3 or CGN3ACSMR.

I was hoping someone could help me with a problem i have been having over the last few days. I just recently got the newest Rogers AC modem and since it has been upgraded from my last one i can't login to the only computer game i really play which is League Of Legends. At first i thought it was just a server problem and tried a few fixes posted on their forums but nothing seemed to work after numerous tries. I called Rogers and informed them of this problem and was told i didn't have the newest firmware downloaded to the new modem. The error at hand is one of a connection issue to the League of Legends server after i select my champion and the countdown for the game to begin is over. The screen goes black and i get the loading icon, but after a few seconds i hear a beep and my icon turns to the default windows arrow and the screen is still black. After shelling out the desktop i am awaited by a error message stating i can't connect to the server and it may be a firewall problem. Since first reading this message, i turned both my windows firewall and the modem firewall off to try one game and the error still persists. I renamed  the logitech.dll files that were apparently creating this problem and rebooted and still nothing. I have tried everything i can from the League of Legends forums for this fix but still no progress. Then out of curiousity i tried the game on my son's computer and it worked fine. We are on the same internet in the same room but i am running Windows 8.1 and he is running Windows 7. I really need some help as this is the only game i play on my computer and its really getting frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated it. Thanks!

I just got the same modem and am experiencing the same problem with the firewall error. I was told by Rogers that it was a firmware update that was needed on the modem but after that was updated the problem persisted. I tried all the "firewall error" solutions on the League of Legends forums and still no luck. But, i have 3 computers in the same room all on the same internet (2 windows 8.1 and 1 Windows 7). But the windows 8.1 ones get this error, and the windows 7 one does not. I am totally confused now.

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

Can you indicate which are wired, or wireless?  The reason I ask that question is because of the introduction of 802.11w in Windows 8.1, which would be built into the wireless drivers.  That is to protect management frames within the 802.11 message structure, and is not game related.   Here's a link to a Cisco chapter on 802.11w:

On my desktop, I'm running Windows 7 with a wired connection. On my laptop, I'm running Windows 7 with a wireless connection. Both cases result in the same error as before.

All three of ours are wired right into the rogers AC modem.  We did the firmware update last wednesday, is there a new one since?

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

The latest firmware is 4.4.8.14    So, wired and it doesn't work.  Going to have to think about this one.  Its just the game that doesn't run, everything else runs ok?

Are you familiar with Wireshark at all?   I wonder what you would see on the 8.1 pc versus the windows 7 pc.

As an experiment, you could try unloading the ethernet driver in one of the Windows 8.1 PC's, and load the specific Windows 7 driver for that controller.  If it worked, it would definitely point to some problem between the modem and the controller firmware.

Can you dig down to the network adapters within the Device Manager and post in what adapters you have on all three PC's.  Just trying to gather some info here.

It is only the leasgue of legends game on winodws 8.1 on two computers and windows 7 on the other.  So far all other games work.. ie Steam, WOW, Star Wars, and Shayia.

Its so frustrating.

Ok, thanks.  Can you have a look at my additonal comments above.

All 3 computers are using Realtek network adapters

no the firmware update does not help

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

Ok, if all three are using Realtek adapaters, then a logical presumption is that the advanced adapter settings, in terms of their availability might be the same if not very close.  You're in a unique situation, with three pc's so close together.  If you haven't started to unload the driver for one of the 8.1 pc's, try this.  Set up the Windows 7 pc and one of the 8.1 pc's so that you can see the advanced adapter settings for each adapter.  If you have somone to help you to do this quickly, go through each setting step by step to see what the Windows 7 settings are, and what the Windows 8.1 settings are.  If you see something is set differently, consider changing the 8.1 pc setting, but, only change one setting at a time.  You might have to reboot for the change to take effect.  If you do change anything, consider this a controlled experiment, changing one setting at a time, rebooting and then starting the game.  If nothing changes, return the setting to its original choice and move on to the next different setting.  That would be my first step, trying to reconcile the differences between the adapter settings. The next step would be to change out the 8.1 driver for a Windows 7 driver.

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

@jordanferguson3,what are you running for an operating system, Windows 7 or 8.1 and are you running wired or wireless?  Can you also drill down to the network adapters in the Device Manager and see what ethernet  and wireless controller you have?

In my case, my adapter for my Windows 7 desktop is the Intel (R) Ethernet Connection I218-V.

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

Windows 7

Wired

Intel Ethernet Connection I217-V

Yes I am running everything on a Wired connection

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

@haguuhar you're running the game via wired connection, correct?
