New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

I just changed from a hybrid fibre 30 (with CGN2 modem) to the Rogers Ignite 60 (with the CGN3ACSMR modem). I'm not sure why, but I now get firewall errors when I try to load up the game. The internet works fine, other than the specific case in the game. Does anyone know what is happening, or how to fix it? I have tried port forwarding, turning the modem into bridge mode, even disabling the router's firewall. None of these options have fixed the problem.

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

Hi,

I've sent a PM to the CommunityHelps about receiving the firmware update for my Rocket modem from firmware 4.5.8.16 to 4.5.8.20 and haven't receievd a reply yet from CommunityHelps. Was wondering if I could get some assistance with recieving this firmware update?

Thanks for your help!

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

4.5.8.20 is still rolling out across the network, although by now I would think it should be complete or very near to it, so the remaining modems should be loaded with that firmware very soon, without any prior intervention from the mods.   But, I'm surprised that you haven't seen a response from @CommunityHelps yet.

@at this point, I'd suggest asking @CommunityHelps to join the 4.5.8.21 trial... unless you're lucky enough to be in an area that hasn't been upgraded to the new Casa CMTSes, you really really really want .21...

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

I'm assuming 4.5.8.21 will be coming along with greater improvements and stability if I'm not mistaken Smiley Happy   I guess I'll forward to getting this firmware hopefully soon!

@Datalink You pointed out the the League of Legends client is not deisgned to work with IPv6... I play League of Legends casually and it may effect me somewhat. However, they are releasing a new game client that includes an all new and simplistic design and new technologies being used. However, I do not know if the new client will include full functionality with IPv6. So, I sent a ticket to Riot Games asking them if the new client supports IPv6. Hopefully it does because the deployment of IPv6 is increasing really fast and they don't want other players to run into other connection issues because their client is really old...

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

When you consider that Comcast has been running IPV6 for a while now, its surprising that the client doesn't support IPV6.  I would think that a number of people with Comcast must play LOL.  The strange thing about the indication that IPV6 isn't supported is that its not mentioned on the main support page.

Ah. Alot of comcast are experiencing connection issues with the old client. It's 5 years old though Riot has the money and time, they don't have the time to atleast make the old client support IPv6? That should've been done a year ago....

Hello,

I play a game called league of legends and usually i get constant 29 ping, but as of yesterday it has increased to 42 I asked others who had rogers if their ping had increased and they all said yes. How long is it going to take to get fixed?

Having the same problem had 25-30 ping 3 days ago, yesterday it was mid 50's and today its mid 40's

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

Likely isnt due to the same issue directly noted for this thread.

If you are able to, find out what the IP is to the server(s) is your connected to,

and do a traceroute for it.. may lead to where the slowdown is happening.

open a command prompt

tracert the.ip.address.here

increase in latency doesn't necessary mean it is a Rogers problem. Do a traceroute as suggested by gdkitty and I think it would give everyone a clear understanding where the increase in latency time is. If it is in a router/hop beyond Roger's control, then there is not much Rogers can do.

It has already been just over 72 hours. Will send. However, regarding the IPv6 issue, I am on a macbook pro, will it be difficult to disbale it?

Did you receive the firmware yet? If not, I suggest you send a PM to @CommunityHelps with your account number, and MAC number of the modem and ask them to manually push the latest firmware to your cable modem.

the .16 firmware addresses the league of legend issues, I am sure of it.

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

Yes it does, as well as latency issues for other online games, VOIP devices, VPNs and just about any other latency intolerant application.

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

Hmm.. looks like rogers has a direct interconect to where riot is..
It does appear that is where the issue is.

Can I expect this update without having to agree to the BETA software agreement?

Interestingly enough, during multiples games of LoL today, I noticed that the ping times increased by 20-30ms. My friends noticed a ping increase of about 10 - 15ms and I experienced a ping increase from 27ms to 53ms.  We normally average  a ping of 25-29ms. Any answers?

Hello, I'm having problems joining games in league of legends constantly, and dropping games in overwatch.

I just switched out my rogers modem on Monday July 13 to this one and started having these issues.

Please update my rogers modem to the latest firmware.

Thank you!

Re: New CGN3ACSMR Modem, not compatible with League of Legends?

Can you have a look at the back of the modem and confirm the modem model?  It will be a CGN3, CGN3ACR, CGN3ACSMR, CGN2, or DPC-3825.

If its a CGN3 series modem, can you log into the modem and on the STATUS ... SYSTEM INFORMATION page that is displayed, check the Software Version (firmware) that is loaded.

It sounds like you might have a CGN3ACSMR with V4.4.8.18 loaded, which isn't a good version for gaming.

If you have a CGN3ACSMR, I would say to request the latest trial version that is available as indicated in the first post of the following thread.  If you follow this link @CommunityHelps you will end up on the public page.  On the right hand side is another link to "Send this user a private message"  Follow that link to the message composition page, fill in the title and text as required and hit send.  Its already addressed.  One of the moderators should get back to you via private message.  Watch your name icon at the upper right hand corner for an overlaid number, and then select the name to bring up the popup overlay with a further link to an mail icon.  Follow that link to the message inbox.
