Network Coverage Expansion Plans?

It's great with all the LTE rollouts happening everywhere, but when is just basic cellular coverage going to expand in some of the long-time dead areas such as that naggingly annoying deadspot north-east of Haliburton, Ontario, and that large hole between Bancroft, Ontario and Ottawa, Ontario?

Hi bigbobbyboogie, we can't comment on plans for expansion that haven't been announced. I can refer you to the network coverage map that does indicate a lack of coverage in the areas you refer to:

That map even has to be taken with a grain of salt.. while it shows coverage.. doesnt say HOW STRONG it is.

I am in georgina (oposide side of lake simcoe from barrie).. that map shows great coverage.. and i have coverage all over town.. but only 1-3 bars, with a dead pocket or two.

Alot comes to supply/demand.. if there are not enough people in that area to SUPPORT putting in a tower.. they are not likely to do it.. it takes alot of time and money to do so.

I have kept an eye on the paper up here.. there has been meetings about a piece of land where they want to put a tower up here.. thats been.. 2+ years now 😛 still nothing yet.  SO even when they do feel it necessary, will take time to get it there.

Thanks for both replies. I get the time and money etc. It has been ages that these dead spots have been there, however, funny enough, Bell AND Telus have both expanded and have excellent coverage there now. Nice big shiny tower that I am pretty sure they share!

Yeah, out here, if i am correct, tellus goes off the bell towers mostly, (and vice versa out west).

Rogers works on a completely different frequency band than them.. so unfortunately couldnt share towers 😞

Hello psolee

It all depends if the Quebec government wants to let Rogers in. Rogers can not just put towers & turn on service if the government does not agree to it & the city as well.

Ontop of the city, its as much the people.

As much as everyone wants more cell coverage... There are lots that don't want it in their back yard (will give them headaches, etc), and oppose the towers going up and can stop one from being done.

Hello Gdkitty

That being said, Quebec is their own country. They can decline any company from doing anything in there & we have seen this many times. Contests & such are not allowed in Quebec unlike everyone else.

So yes the Government & the city & the people need to agree to have the towers & the company in the city. To build a tower & have all this down, takes months of not years.
