Modem Only

I know I would rather use a router of my own choice for home use.  Why not offer a modem only solution for internet costomers rather than force people to buy or rent and more expensive combined modem/router device.  Especially so since the current Hitron so called "Enhanced WI-fi Modem" gets such poor reviews.  I want to upgrade my current service but I would be forced to pay for hardware I don't need.  I'm getting closer and closer to switching to fibre-op.

Re: Modem Only

Unfortunately this is the way with alot of the bigger providers.
(IE: bell fibe, only provides a gateway as well)

Only real solution is to put the device in bridged mode, effectively turning it into a modem, and running that way.
But does require a hardware change.
