Re: LTE not coming to Winnipeg after all.

They're just testing this weekend. The official rollout is June 17, which is Monday.

Hello Infrerno129.

As the post says, it will be rolled out not June 17th which is a Monday. The weekend is just for them to test it and make sure everything is alright.

Seeing as today is the say, try seeing if it works and let us know!!

Hello Infrerno129

Have you tried restarting the phone or turning on LTE in the settings if you haven't done that already? If you have just wait and see if it will show.

Re: LTE not coming to Winnipeg after all.

As many people have found.. LTE doesnt have the greatest coverage sometimes.. it can be verry jumpy, even 10 feet in one direction could mean LTE vs none.. even in a "FULL" coverage area per say.. its very 'pockety'.
(i ran into this on friday.  In car, 3g, walk 5 paces towards building.. LTE).

You might have to drive around a bit, you might be in a dead zone 😞

Re: LTE not coming to Winnipeg after all.

horrible, can stand on the roof & still get nothing.. it would be "too easy" for their coverage map to be accurate even after 7 months late.. see images..

first image, towers in the area with the southern most one being the closest & tallest, second one just north is on a apartment building, far away one to the east (miles) i think is the only one around here transmitting lte..

second image, shows where i walked, red is no lte green is lte & was repeatable when i backtracked so it wasnt "sporatic", blue dots are the 2 nearby towers, constant 5 bar hspa+ near them.

third/forth images, pictures of those 2 said close towers.

fifth image, as you see i went right up to it even, still no lte (from that tower), while in that position looking east i had line of sight to that far away tower miles away, too far to come out decently on camera, soon as that tower came in sight, lte appeared, step back to put the building in front of it, lte gone, repeatable & predictable.

sixth image, about the lte performance i get when i can get it, most of de vos rd, has line of sight to that far away tower.

what even made me do this was after i called rogers they said everything seemed fine on their end, go to a rogers plus to have my sim tested, after nearly being there lte appeared which is the first northern most green line on the map then i knew the sim/phone was fine & it was just half the towers not transmitting then i wanted try and generate my own coverage map..

richmond west, ALL OF IT, pretty much doesnt have coverage, AT ALL  even with los even BESIDE our local tower which is giving good 5 bar hspa+, and NO lte, while some tower miles away along the perimiter is sweating itself trying to cover where these 2 should be covering.. how many years till this is fixed &/or that 700mhz band starts getting used?

Re: LTE not coming to Winnipeg after all.

I have a MicroSIM and a Galaxy S3 phone and I can't get LTE either. I'm within the city limits on the Northern side of town and all I can get is HSPA. I do see the new LTE APN on my phone.

Not surprised though.

Not impressed either.

In any case, Bell's recent $60 plan beats anything Rogers can offer and since Rogers is turning off their retention discounting, I'm hopping by the end of this year.
