Help!
Once in a while, my internet connection is lost and is fails to stay connected for no more than a few minutes before the cconnection is lost again. There is no particular time of day this occurs. However, it has been occurring more frequently (over the last few months).
After a while, the connection (or modem) becomes stable. Tonight, the internet connection is stable enough to create this message. Current uptime is about 18-hours.
What is wrong?
Is it a Rogers network problem?
Is it a cable modem problem?
A look at the log from the Motorola SB5101 shows critical codes R004.0 and R005.0 just before the modem shuts down and reboots each time. Below is a portion of the log that shows these critical codes. Anybody know what these critical "Unicast Maintenance" errors mean?
A couple of things to note. The log timestamp date is correct except for the time (GMT?). And, the timestamp is reset to 1970-01-01 00:00:00 before the modem gets the current time from(?).
The EDT when this occurred was approx. between 11pm and 1:30am.
Modem info.... about 3.5-years old.

Hello nbikeman.
Are you able to explain the cable wiring/layout? Sometimes the Internet Modem & Phone Modem or Digital Box share the same line and are connected to a splitter. Many times the splitter is the reason for intermittent service, or a loose connector or sometimes a small cut, staple or kink in the cable line.
Also make sure that all cables and power cords are tightly connected and not damaged.
If you do not feel comfortable inspecting or modifying any of the wiring please feel free to contact our CARE department to schedule a Field Technician.

Assuming you are rent the modem, your easiest option is most likely to take it in to a rogers plus store and exchange it. You will need to bring the modem itself, the power cable and a piece of photo ID.
