Installing security camera system with internet access need help

Hello:

I am using Rogers internet at home with Rogers Wi-Fi Modem no switch installed.

Now, I am trying to install a security camera system NVR to this Rogers modem via network cable.

I have the following questions.

1. How to open port 80 for outside internet access?

2. Does Rogers block DDNS?

3. Under firewall there is a private range. Is it the client port range?

Many thanks,

Larry

I don't think Rogers blocks DDNS but you don't need it as much since your IP rarely, if ever, changes. But it is still nice to be able to use a friendly name farther than the numeric IP. You might want to consider getting a third party router and run your gateway in bridge mode as port forwarding is more flexible on third party routers and many such routers support DDNS services or even give you a DDNS - I know Asus does for example.
