How do I change the default startup channel and never seen Channel 1 again?

Every time I turn on the cable box, I get Rogers Channel 1 onscreen. I never watch that advertising material and find it interferes with my viewing. It's very annoying. How can I get the set to remember the last channel viewed and NEVER go to Channel 1 when it restarts?

Also: is there a way to go directly to the onscreen guide without having to page through the irritating "what's on" screen? It's another bit of interferring noise that reduces my appreciation of Rogers' service. Just let me go directly to the guide, please!

you can change both of them very easily so you do not have to "put up" with those annoyances ever again. just press settings twice and change the viewer power on channel to "last channel"

and in the quick start guide, change guide order to "guide first" simple, problem solved.

i have an uncle who has complained about quick start to his wife for the last year he hates it, but when i came over to his house i showed him how to turn it off and he was so happy.

Once I tried pressing "settings" twice, and failed, what do I get to try next?

Replying to my own post:

"Settings"

then I scrolled down, so that the hidden menu items scrolled up onto the screen.

"System"

and there, on that sub-menu, is power-on channel.

In my case, I picked one from the list (the weather channel).
