Re: Hong Kong Phone Samsung A5 usable in Canada?

Hi @Mattx6500,

Welcome to the Community Forums!Smiley Happy

A Samsung Galaxy A5 Smartphone from Hong Kong should work on our Rogers network as long as the device is unlocked and using one of our Rogers SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards.

Our wireless technical support team give limited support for Non-Rogers devices because of all the variables, but will use a effort approach to resolve issues. Network frequency requirements for a Non-Rogers device to work on the Rogers wireless network needs to be compatible with the following frequencies:

850MHz
1900MHz
1700MHz
2100MHz
2600MHz

The U.S. Comparable Samsung Galaxy S5 uses the following network specifications:
• SIM size Micro-SIM (3FF)
• Infra 2G GSM, 3G UMTS, 4G LTE FDD
• 2G GSM B8 (GSM 850 MHz), B10 (E-GSM 900 MHz), B13 (DCS 1800 MHz), B14 (PCS 1900 MHz)
• 3G UMTS B1 (IMT 2100 MHz), B2 (PCS 1900 MHz), B4 (AWS), B5 (US 850 MHz Cellular)
• 4G LTE B1 (2100), B2 (1900), B3 (1800), B4 (AWS), B5 (850), B7 (2600), B8 (900), B17 (700)

Hope this helps, let us know if you have any other questions!

Hi RogersArthur and thanks for the reply. I see so does this mean my phone will be able to use the Rogers 4G network? Sorry i don't really know phone networks that well.

Re: Hong Kong Phone Samsung A5 usable in Canada?

Hi @Mattx6500,

Thank you for your inquiry!

In regards to the Samsung Galaxy A5 working on the Rogers 4G network. So far from what I've seen looking at the specs from your previous message: 4G FDD LTE B1(2100),B3(1800),B7(2600) a frequency looks compatible, so 'YES' you should be able to use the Samsung Galaxy A5 on the Rogers 4G network.

Keep in mind, we cannot guarantee the functionality of an unlocked device.

Thanks!
