HDMI issue with Cisco 8642 HD PVR

Having the sound cut off, rapid pops high pitched squeal. Problem with HDMI codec incompatible with Sony sound. Disconnected HDMI cable between Cisco box to TV, connected with component cables. Works fine now, but TV picture is 1080i instead of 1080p.

Until Cisco and Sony work out the software issues and issue a patch, I do not recommend the Rogers Next 3.0 box, Nor will I ever buy a Sony TV again. Next one will be Samsung or Sharp.

Re: HDMI issue with Cisco 8642 HD PVR

This is a thread on the nb2, so have asked the mods to move it.

The nb3 does have some audio issues with people using surround sound period.
While it does effect all brands, Sony period seems to have issues with both the nb2 and nb3 boxes with other issues as well from what I have seen.

As for the 1080 I/p part... The nb3 has been the only one with 1080p setting (though it doesn't work). The others then only had 1080i.
I wouldn't really worry about it, as the highest signal that is broadcast is 1080i, so you are not loosing anything.
