According to the following post, http://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/forums/forumtopicpage/board-id/GeneralCareSupport/thread-id/355 the Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy Note 1 was to arrive early January.
As it stands right now, we are at mid-january, with no indication on when (and if) the update will be arriving in January.
Could you kindly let us know whether this update is going to be released and a specific date when users can expect it?
Solved! Solved! Go to Solution.
We are only getting 4.1 for now. We may get 4.2 later on but Samsung has NOT confirmed anything about it yet. Complain to Samsung, not to Rogers as they have nothing to do with it now. I know its hard to wait but the wait was because of Samsung, not by Rogers. Now we will wait until Rogers releases it.
My phone is a Galaxy Note GT-N7000 (universal version).
The updates come from Samsung, not Rogers, as my phone isn't locked to them (never was), even though Rogers is my carrier.
For what it's worth, I'm not very impressed... JB seems a bit buggy. Battery seems to be draining quicker, but that could be my fault. S pen is lagging in S Note. A few other things, but nothing major.
I updated mine last night and this update is piece of crap....
People DO NOT upgrade to jelly bean. My phone is sooooooo slow now.
Sometimes when I click on app and I have to wait for more that 10 secs....
and I can not roll back to old OS....
I think I might dump this phone....
I downloaded the official upgrade to Jellybean 3 weeks ago. Since then, my phone hangs at least once a day, screens are unresponsive or take 20 or more seconds to respond, texting is painfully slow and answering calls has become a complete nightmare due to unresponsiveness.
My Note worked perfectly before this POS "upgrade". I called Rogers and was told no one else is complaining and to either reset my phone to factory settings, contact Samsung or upgrade. After months of "testing" at Rogers, this is the result. Is this Samsung's and Rogers's way to get us to spend more money?
Samsung could have just told us the so-called upgrade may lead to lagging and hanging so we could have made up our own minds about downloading Jerkybean. Instead, they chose to cover this up and hope we live with this crap like good ol' Canadians. Well it's time we stand up for ourselves because there is nothing more evil than the indifference of good men.
I am so livid! I will never buy another Samsung phone again. I encourage anyone who is experiencing problems after upgrading to write into this board and document your experience.
Try the factory reset.
I know it is a pain the rear but before you get rid of your phone or whatever you decide to do it can't hurt to try it once. Remember to save all your important data somewhere off the phone (ie pictures, txt files, etc) because this will wipe your phone completely of all except Jellybean. Then reinstall your apps. (easier to do from Google play on your computer). If it works... GREAT. If it doesn't... well you only wasted about 15 minutes.
This is common with updates to many cell phones. Not just Samsung and not just Rogers. I find that by doing a factory reset helps get rid of the unnceccessary data your phone has collected. (Sort of like defragging the hard drive and doing a disk cleanup)
