Hello, we have a Dynex TV and the Digital box remote is programmed and turns the TV on and changes TV volume but it will not turn the TV off, it turns it off and right away it turn back on. How can we fix this. When we use the TV remote the TV works fine and turn on and off with out a problem. Any ideas of how I can fix this? Please do not answer with instructions on how to program my remote as I have exhausted those options. Thanks

I have the exact same problem and have not figured out a solution. It is rather annoying having to turn off the tv again after powering off the cable box. I also have a Dynex TV.

Hi,
I have the same problem, (Dynex TV, rogers remote, turning off turns it back on). I found that if u cover the infrared right after the light goes out on tv, then ur safe. 🙂 alot of trouble to go thru.I have 2 other rogers remotes and they also do the same on the same TV.

This is a link for the FULL REMOTE MANUAL
INCLUDED ARE SOME COMMON SECTIONS TURNING TV ON/OFF and programming MASTER POWER
You should be able to just do the first one and turn the tv and box off at the same time, (FOR THIS TO WORK THE REMOTE HAS TO BE IN CABLE MODE)
I suggest reseting the remote to factory settings first i've included those steps at the bottom of this thread,
Practice these steps they have to be done properly or it will not work 🙂

seems like the Rogers universal control is sending 2X signals to turn OFF. I don't know if this is actually what it's doing, but that's how it looks.
I have same problem described above, regardless of the Dynex code used (all of 1463, 0463, 0049) produce same results when programmed into Rogers remote control....
Turns Rogers Cable box ON and Dynex TV ON, no problem.
Turns Rogers Cable box OFF and Dynex TV OFF, then turns Dynex TV ON.
Result....Rogers remote control cannot turn the Dynex TV OFF. (always OFF, ON)
Does anyone have a fix? Or is this a problem with the Rogers controller?

Well yes/no a problem with the remote..
Could be the way the TV's codes are.
Some TVs, have an on/off code.. same code does both.
Some have an On and Off code seperate. (even though its the same button on the tv remote)
The rogers one, only works with an ON/OFF as the same code..
Could be something with that TV having the dual code..
OR
That say the LENGTH that its broadcasting the code, is too long, and the TV is picking it up as another ON signal.
I guess one thing you could try.. press it to turn stuff off, as soon as you see that it has turned it off, cover the sensor/transmitter at the front quickly.. and see if it still does it.

thanks for responding. it's too much of a pain (for my wife) to remember to "cover the remote" when in the middle of the shut-down routine. it seems that the rogers remote just doesn't have the right sequence of OFF for the Dynex TV. I don't think Rogers is concerned about it, as there are many complaints around the internet chat rooms about the Rogers remote and Dynex TV combination. (Customer service isn't Rogers' stength!, haha) . Maybe someone will solve the problem for us?

Not necessarily that EASY of a solve.
A) the are not rogers/Cisco remotes.. they are ones made to work with the stuff for them.. Rogers doesnt do the exact engineering/programming for them
B) The codes, etc are had programmed into the remotes memory.. to fix them.. recall every single remote to have them added, etc?

This is the only Dynex flat screen code for the older 5 button remote. Mine does the same thing. I guess I'm going to have to step through the codes but that is such a pain as is turning off the TV and it comes back on. Gotta think which is the better bad option!!
I got the new remote but my fingers have learnt the old sequences, so I am trying to program an extra remote I bought quite few years back as my kids kept loosing the main one.
