Do I really have to have a digital box?

I just switched over to Rogers from ExpressVu and I ordered an HD box for my main TV but I only want standard digital for my TV in my bedroom (which is a digital TV).  I was under the impression that I could hook my cable right into the TV without the need of a box. Am I wrong about this or is Rogers soaking me $5/month for a SD Box for nothing?

I gather your main TV is an HDTV, so that TV will need a cable box.

You should be able to split the cable to your bedroom standard TV, but it needs to have a built-in convertor, and you won't get as many channels as with a cable box.
