Changing phones within same account

If I have multiple phones in my Share everything account, can I switch phones between numbers? What if the phones still have a flextab balance?

You can switch the phones around all you want (just may have to change SIM card sizes)
You can even buy a phone outright and use it.

The flextab is tied with the account, not the phone.

Many people for example still might have a year left, but then lose their phone. They get given an old one to use and use that one, but still have the tab.
