Change in Maximum Usage Charges

This month (for the billing period from July 23 - August 23) I have somehow gone way over my monthly allowance of 80 GB, and my account is now showing $100 in usage charges. The last bill I received has a paragraph saying:

"To protect you from unexpected high charges, we currently cap the maximum monthly amount you can be charged for additional internet usage at $50 in addition to your Hi-Speed Internet plan's monthly service fee, modem rental fee (if applicable) and taxes. Effective August 16, 2012 this monthly limit will be increased to $100 in addition to your plan's monthly service fee, modem rental fee (if applicable) and taxes. If you exceed the monthly usage allowance included in your Hi-Speed Internet plan you will begin to see charges up to the new limit beginning on your first invoice on or after September 16, 2012. All other aspects of your Rogers service(s) will remain the same. Remember, you can track your internet usage online by signing into My Rogers at For more information or questions please contact us in any of the ways listed on page 2 of this invoice. Thank you."

My question is: since the paragraph says that this increase to $100 is effective for the first invoice on or after Sept 16, and I will  be receiving this current invoice on August 23, doesn't the $50 maximum still apply for this current billing period?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Change in Maximum Usage Charges

Hello Trealis,

The overage is usually calculated based on total amount consumed, however should only be billed upto the $50 cap.  As additional usage is to be billed 1 month after the data has been used the overage should be billed at the previous $50.

Any additional usage incurred on the August 23- Sept 23 invoice would be subjected to the new fees.

Hope this helps,

Re: Change in Maximum Usage Charges

Hey guys I was wondering and I really need help when I check my Internet usage I go over  when there's about 2 weeks left before it resets and when I checked my final usage it said I got charged 90 dollars but when the bill came it charged me only 42 dollars so I'm kinda confused and  right now I'm at 90 dollars and  there's still at least one more week before it resets so I was wondering if it will be lower then that or will it be the amount it's been given? also I'm using the extreme package and turning of my Internet until the bill comes please i need some answers.
