I'm glad to hear you've taken the plunge and decided to migrate over to our Ignite TV service! I've had it since late last year and so far I'm loving all the cool features!! 😁
With regards to the Flex Channels, each Ignite Bundle package comes with specific Flex Channels that can be swapped every 30 days (beginning from your date of installation). Depending on the package.. you get X many flex channels.
Every month you can swap them around.. so say there is one which only airs stuff you want xmas time, could grab that one and drop another for that time period.
It shouldnt really slow down your internet. With ignite you need 150 internet.. even with 2-3 tvs running it at one time, You should have probably close to 100mbps remaining still.
Yes there is a visual guide.
Really the voice I find is best for doing searches. saves pressing the keys around 100 times to spell a simple word. So good when you wan to find a show.. not browsing around the guide, or manually searching, you can say "NCIS" and it will bring up the results.
You SHOULD get a little pamphlet.. at least I did.
Make sure your install tech explains stuff to you.

Getting ignite tv installed in a couple weeks. Reading up on the flex channels, just need some clarification. Can you switch out channels from different packages? I am getting the popular package, so can I switch popular channels with premier flex channels?

Your post was probably moved to this existing thread. According to post one of this thread, you cannot. You can only "flex" inside your package.

I was confused also, because all it says on the Rogers website is that you get Flex channels and you can swap them, but it doesn't say what you can swap them for. The guy in the Rogers store didn't really explain it that well either. But I talked to a rep on the phone, and I think I get it now.
If you go the Rogers Ignite TV web page (under Shop) and scroll down a bit, you'll see a banner with three tabs: Bundles, Channels, and Theme Packs. Click on the one that says Channels. Scroll down a bit, and you'll see all the channels you get under the various bundles. Channels that have a big check mark next to them are the base channels you get with the bundle. Channels that say "Flex Channel Included" are also included in the bundle. And then there are channels that say "Flex Channel" (with a little blue mark beside them). These latter channels are not included in the channels you get initially, but can be added by swapping with other flex channels that are in your bundle.
But you can't swap for a channel that isn't included in any the three categories mentioned above. You have to pay extra for them as either a standalone channel or as part of a theme pack.

You can find the entire list of channels (including Flex Channels) that are available in each package at: https://www.rogers.com/web/consumer/ignite-bundles/channels

Flex channels on lower package but not on Popular ?
Hi, Just getting my Ignite install tomorrow.
Looking at flex channels and there are a few of my favourite channels that are included in Premier and also in Flex 10 which is the cheaper bundle, but not in the Popular bundle.
So if I see that block on the channel grid is blank then the Popular bundle does not get those unless I pay a la carte for them? Examples: Animal Planet, BBC Earth, Investigation Discovery. They are offered as Flex on the Premier and the Flex10 but not the Popular.
thx.

Good evening @TracyA,
Thanks for posting & welcome to the Community! I certainly hope your Ignite TV install went smoothly.
Regarding the Flex Channels, you got it right! Some Rogers Ignite Bundle come with a selection of Flex Channels, which you can exchange in or out every 30 days if you want to try something new.
If you select one of the TV packages, you have the option do add missing channels as standalone.
Hope this helps!

But the issue is that the flex channels don't include sports channels I would like to watch, and that I currently receive through the Popular package. Therefore, to replicate what I get now will cost more under the flex program.

@jimtorrance You have to look beyond the price/contents of the package when comparing Ignite TV's "Popular" package and Digital TV's counterpart, and the other offerings from Rogers' competitors. The other thing that most people are not aware of is that capabilities such as live broadcast, look-back (the ability to watch recently broadcast shows as if they were live), on-demand, PVR recording, the ability to fast-forward through streams, access to "Go" apps, streaming rights/capabilities for mobile apps, etc. all factor into the licensing costs, and there is also usually a tiered per-subscriber pricing structure based on the number of active subscribers for the channel and/or related channels. So, the package pricing and selection of channels that go into a package involve extensive analysis and modelling, and due to the technical differences between Ignite TV and Digital TV, the package pricing (and as a result, the channel lineup, including the Flex Channels that are offered) will be different.

You can find that information by going to https://www.rogers.com/web/consumer/ignite-bundles/channels
Which Ignite TV bundle are you subscribed to?
T+E is available as a Flex Channel in most bundles (which you can exchange for free) and is also available as a standalone channel for $4.00/month

Thanks for explanation. Wonder why Rogers does not post something like this. Everybody must wonder.

The problem is the info disappears from the screen when you drill down to the package.

You probably have an active ad or pop-up blocker, etc. See the tips in the following link:

Okay thanks for this info. My question is specific to a channel and package. The Popular Bundle and MSNBC. On the list it shows it is included with Premier Bundle. Has Flex Channel with the blue exclamation point for the Flex 10 bundle but for the Popular bundle it shows nothing in that space. So it looks like you can get MSNBC for the Premier bundle, the most expensive bundle. For the Flex 10 bundle which is the third most expensive bundle, but not for the Popular bundle with is the second most expensive bundle.
Am I reading that right?

Yes, you are. The Popular package offers a smaller number of Flex channels AND a smaller selection of Flex channels to choose from than Premier.
If you opt for the Flex 10 bundle, you get a broader selection of Flex channels but you also lose a number of other things that you get for free in Popular and Premier, such as 4K channels and the Stingray music channels.
Re: MSNBC, it is also possible that Rogers may stop carrying this channel effective July 1, 2020: http://www.rogers.com/discontinued-channel
If you are unhappy with how the Ignite TV channel packages are structured, you can raise your concerns in the following thread: https://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/Ignite-TV/Changes-to-Ignite-TV-Channels-in-Packages-and-Theme-...

Sharing my understanding about Ignite Flex Channels.
Thumb Rule for Ignite Flex " It's very simple. The more you demand as your Favorite/Flex channels the more you pay. "
Example :
Flex 5 package; You can choose 5 favorite channels from available Flex channels. ( because you're paying less for this package you're getting less options to choose from )
Flex 10 ; You can choose 10 favorite channels from available Flex Channels. ( Because you may pay more than the Flex 5 package you will get some more channels to choose from ).
hope this may help!
Thanks!

The info' re flex channels is not exactly clear.
Can pre-selected flex channels be the same as those listed in your total channels list. In which case there could be the possibility of having to use a channel from your total channels, which you would in fact prefer to keep, to swop with an available flex channel.
In principle the idea of flex channels sounds quite beneficial but really the practicality has not been explained in detail. Is it a ruse to get one to enlist ?
Why should the pre-selected flex channels change monthly and what guarantee is there that they are in fact included in your total channels.
I really feel that a lot of explanation is required before I change to Ignite TV.
I would certainly appreciate any input to clarify the situation.
Thanks,
Ian.
