Can I initialize voicemail away from the home phone?

Step 1 in the user guide says to "Dial *98 from your home phone" to set up voicemail for the first time, but circumstances have left me away from the home phone for a while. 

I know I can access voicemail, once it's set up, by dialing 1 87RogersVM, but I can't get anywhere until it's initialized.

Is there a way to set up voicemail from a different number?

That's a good question! Unfortunately the initial setup must be completed from within your home. I am sorry to hear about your current circumstances but we simply don't have a work around for this.
