Best Way to Back-Up Galaxy S3

HogWildMark
I Plan to Stick Around

I just bought my Galaxy S3 about 2 or 3 weeks ago. I have not rooted it where 1 I am not comfortable on how and do not want to void my warranty and 2 would like to know the best way to backup my phone.  I know when I had my iphone I would just use itunes.  I have tried using Kies however it just fails to even create a backup and and quits.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

Hey HogWildMark,

The best way that I am aware to back the device is Kies, you can find out more info here: http://www.samsung.com/my/support/usefulsoftware/KIESTUTORIAL/JSP

Depends on what you want to back up. Do you want to just back up your apps? Do you want an exact image of your phone?

Without root you can backup your phone completely using this tool. I haven't used it but many say it works great

http://www.xda-developers.com/android/ultimate-backup-tool-no-root-required/

Keep in mind that nowhere does it say on any Rogers policy that rooting your phone voids your warranty. I have had many phones repaired while rooted and running completely different ROMs. I just had my SGS3 replaced because there was something wrong with the radio. It was running ParanoidAndroid with a custom boot screen. Rogers had no problems with replacing it.

That has everything you need to root and install a custom recovery, all bundled into a very easy to use menu system. It can also unroot the phone and return it to stock just as easy.

Again just to be clear. Posts on Rogers forums, blogs, chat rooms, twitter, etc., does not count as policy. All policies regarding the warranty of your device come with your bill, the contract you signed and the device packaging. Your warranty only covers hardware, not the software, which is what rooting is all about.

I tried Kies. It just hangs and fails to backup.  I think Kies is useless
