BB 5.0 for Curve 8900

So I want BB 5.0 for my Curve 8900, but I know some OS won't work on Rogers Network. Thoughts?

Re: BB 5.0 for Curve 8900

That's not my model but my understanding is that the highest Rogers Certified version is:   4.6.1.378

If you are feeling adverurous, see this unofficial version 5 for the 8900:

Hi Ryan K

The most current Rogers branded handheld codes we have can be found at the following links from our own portal here or more direct link  here. In addition you can also access it from the Rogers portal on the Blackberry website here.

Re: BB 5.0 for Curve 8900

1) I predict Rog will never release OS5 for the 8900 - that model is no longer even on their website.
2) Use a non-Rog (branded) OS version like ^bub suggested. Expect it to work fine. Visit http://forums.crackberry.com/f100/
see sticky post at top.

Beware the vendor.xml file.

Re: BB 5.0 for Curve 8900

Saleh, your post did NOTHING to address the OP's inquiry which centered around getting OS 5 for their BB.

So why on earth would you give them a link that can only give them OS 4.6?

If you're going to try to help people as an official Rog employee please read carefully their questions and answer what they ask!!!

Hi Rwatch,

RogersSaleh provided all the information he had available.

If this isn't an adequate response, ryank doesn't have to mark the post as an accepted solution for the community.

Thanks!

Re: BB 5.0 for Curve 8900

As I said in the Early Upgrade post where this seems  to also be getting dealt with, the answer was not empty. The Rogers person could have said that 4.6 is a highest certified version for the 8900, which would have completed that.  They tried, and there was information there for the OP to research further.

I tihnk we've all had our kick at this now.

Re: BB 5.0 for Curve 8900

I've been using 5.0 releases for awhile for my 8900, and would recommend you install 5.0.0.681 as it worked great for me.
But, if you want to be adventurous, try out a hybrid from Driphter.com - I've been using willboy6's hybrid's for a bit and absolutely love it; my battery has improved significantly, and my browser is fast and responsive, so worth the effort. Just Mae sure you follow the instructions. 😉

Why is Rogers stalling on certified release for 8900. And do they plan to release at all?
