eots, that's simply not the case. We provide OS updates as the manufacturer (RIM) makes them available to us for testing. Please refer your concerns to the manufacturer in this instance.

Rogers_Chris, what you wrote is simply not the case.

RIM makes updates available to carriers in order for them to test them and learn to support them.  The fact that many (most?) of the carriers worldwide have had OS 7.1 for weeks (months?) now shows that it has been released by RIM to them.  With Rogers being one of the two top telecommunications companies in Canada, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that they've received the update along with the other carriers.

Rumours have circulated that Rogers needs more time to figure out how to incorporate the UMA feature.  Whether this is the case or not, Rogers has had the update for a LONG time and has been dragging its feet in releasing it.

Any comment to the contrary would have to be backed up by evidence for the members here to believe it.  🙂

Re: 7.1 os

Until RIM provide us with the update, we can't begin testing it, which would mean we can't release it.

With all due respect, Rogers has had the release for weeks and has been testing it; my contact at RIM (who must remain anonymous, unfortunately) confirms that.

Rogers is a big company with thousands upon thousands of customers to serve.  Occasionally, a release is not going to hit the street as quickly as other companies, but to say that Rogers does not have the release to test is either an outright lie or ignorance.  Again, I say that with all due respect to the work you do in these forums.  🙂

We wouldn't comment on rumours, BillJ, but your anonymous source's info conflicts with my official response internally, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Sorry but that's just a load of B.S.  RIM released the software to ALL carriers at the same time and Rogers for whatever reason has just decided it doesn't give a crap about customers with the 9860, you already released it for all other compatibile phones several months ago and all other carriers that also have the 9860 have provided 7.1 to their customers.  Many Rogers customers have given up waiting for someting Rogers will likely NEVER deliver and have loaded the 7.1 provided by Telus and Bell and are not having any issues!
