4 Ways to Personalize Your Rogers TV Experience

Here are four ways Rogers Digital TV customers can make their TV-watching experience even more personalized.



Set a default channel


When you turn on your TV, you’ll notice that your digital box automatically defaults to channel 1. Try these simple steps to default to a favourite channel instead.


  1. Turn on your television and hit the Settings button twice or, if you are in Quick Settings, you’ll only need to hit it once.
  2. Scroll until Viewer: Power On is highlighted.
  3. Either hit Select or the Right browser button. This will bring up a list of channels.
  4. Using your Up/Down button, toggle through the channels in the center frame and highlight the channel you want as your default channel.
  5. Press OK/Select to select that channel as your default.
  6. Hit A to accept the changes you’ve made or hit C if you’d like to cancel the changes.



Add channels to your Favourites List


Having your favourite channels set into your remote is the same as having speed dial on your phone, allowing you to quickly and easily get to what’s important. In this case – channels. Here’s how.


For NextBox customers


Through Menu:

  1. Hit Menu on your Rogers Remote and scroll to the TV tab displayed on your screen.
  2. Scroll down to Favourites and press Select. From there, go through the channel list and pick your favourites.


Through Info:

  1. Hit Info on your Rogers Remote.
  2. Scroll right to Favourites and hit Select.
  3. Toggle through the channels to select your favourites.


For Digital Box (excluding NextBox) customers


  1. Hit Settings twice. Or, if you’re in Quick Settings or the Interactive Program Guide, press it once.
  2. Hit Select or the Right arrow button. A list of channels will pop up in the center frame.
  3. Scroll through the channels using the Up and Down arrow buttons to highlight the channel you want to add/remove from your favourites. When you’ve added a channel, a blue-ribbon icon will show up next to the selected channel.
  4. Hit A to accept changes, or C to cancel changes.


Note: Any duplicate channels added to your favourites will both appear.



Block/unblock channels for Ontario customers


If there are young, impressionable ears (and eyes) at home or visiting, you might want to block inappropriate channels. First, make sure you have created a Parental Control PIN.


  1. Click Settings until you’ve reached the General Settings screen.
  2. Scroll down and highlight Block: Channel, then hit OK/Select.
  3. Enter your Parental Control PIN.
  4. Peruse the channels you wish to block or unblock and hit OK/Select.


If you’re familiar with the channel numbers you want to block or unblock, you can also use the number keypad on your remote. Instead of step 4 above, simply:


  1. Enter the desired channels on the keypad and select A to accept.
  2. Once you’ve finished, select Exit.

Reminder: if you have a PVR, you’ll need to enter your Parental Control PIN in order to view recorded content that has a blocked rating or came from a blocked channel.



Change Quick Start Menu Order


  1. Go the Self Service menu.
  2. Select the Change Quick Start Menu Launch option.
  3. You’ll now have the choice to select “Quick Start menu first,” “TV listings first,” or “QSM from FAVE key.” The final option allows you to launch the Quick Start menu simply by pressing the FAVE key on your Rogers remote.
