I am also concerned about support - I have a Nokia N8 - and Rogers decided not to allow the Belle updated on their locked phone. So I am stuck with an unsupported phone for a year.
Not cool.

I got the exact same promotion. She said 79.99, plus a $35 registration fee, but when it went trough the agent's computer the latter didn't show up, thus I only ended up paying $40.37 AFTER the $50 rebate.

@Meowmix

Ok.. I just called back in today and confirmed my deal.

$79.99 minus $50.00 mail-in rebate = $29.99

Plus taxes = $39.58 (since I had to pay full tax on the pre-rebated price)

All fees waived.

Plus I have a valid tracking number for my phone.

I spoke to 3 Managers and around 15 Sells / retention reps. They all said this " promotion" is for limited customers. Its not for everyone. This being said, this offer is not for everyone and the managers noted that they know it was posted on here so they are taking more precaution on who gets this deal.

Re: 3 year contracts and Upgrading Questions?

I wonder if this is to get people on pre-january 2012 contracts off them due to changes in how they handle upgrades, as well as the recently updated plans (as well as a likely sweet spot for anyone under a year of contract left).

Ok, this is sound more reasonable....

faith in Roger's restored if it goes through.

Re: 3 year contracts and Upgrading Questions?

Coan, I think I had about 5-6 months left on my voice, and 1.5 years on my data left. This was since my last HUP back in the day.

And although I retained my plan, the cancellation fees have been moved over to the newer policies, so it makes sense that it is an attempt to get rid of a lot of us still on the older policies.
