S4mcd.

The ONLY time I have had a Rogers remote not turn the tv off, is when it is NOT programmed to the tv at all. Any time it has been programmed to the tv, it has acted this way. I have had 4 generations of the remote all do the same.

Like OLDYELLER I have had times when I was to quick moving the remote when turning the things off. Also sometimes (not always) they seem to be out of sync after and update or download.

For me it is just a minor irritant to open the glass door and push the button.

Re: 1056b01 remote: how to make CBL + PWR affect only PVR, not TV

Sorry, but these are workarounds. Older remotes had explicit codes to disable, as I documented.

Also, I am now at home and checked my remote here. It is the same 1056b01 model. TV+PWR turns TV on/off. CBL+PWR turns PVR on/off, does NOT affect TV. No glass, fingers, tape, sudden movements required. It works like it should and has for over a year.

Anyway I will try calling Rogers to see if they know.

Is the tv programmed on that remote at all though?

Re: 1056b01 remote: how to make CBL + PWR affect only PVR, not TV

I saw a link on the digitalhome forums re this.

Apparently it is not normal function for the remote to do so, but can be programmed the way you want it.

If I can find the link again I will post it (on mobile right now so can not look it up easy)

EDIT:

Still can  not find the exact spot.. but it my have been part of this thread.. may be worth looking through the posts on it.

Thanks. Huge thread, still wading through it. Saw a mention of code 991. Will try that when I get to cottage tonight (where the wonky remote is). And continue reading the thread. And call Rogers if required. Will report back.

you can reset the macros, by following these instructions:

Programming the Master Power Key

  1. Press and hold SETUP key until the last selected device key blinks twice.
  2. Enter 9 9 5. The last selected device key blinks twice
  3. Press PWR once.
  4. For the first device you want on in the power on sequnce, press a device key (e,g, CBL) once. Then press PWR once. For the second device in the power sequence, press its key once (e.g. TV). Then press PWR.
  5. Repeat step 4 up to four more times to add the second, fourth, and fifth device, as desired.
  6. To save the settings and exit the program:
    1. Press CBL once.
    2. Press and hold SETUP until the CBL key blinks twice.

also clearing all codes except the digital box is On the remote control, press and hold SETUP
until the last-selected device key blinks twice.
2. Enter 9 8 0. The last-selected device key
blinks twice, pauses, and blinks twice again to
confirm that all custom programming is
cleared.
