Re: Apple iPhone 8 / 8 Plus & iPhone X Reservation numbers / Questions!

@Meowmix For those in my situation, I called Apple and they said it's a bit tricky but they would do a refund and re-sell it on a contract. They said basically said they'll do whatever I want.

Hello @mh1t

You won't receive a shipping email until the device ships out... That can be a day before the launch, on launch or after launch. Depends on stock.

Hello @gcooldude

Thats good to hear! They would refund it, wait for a few minutes for the system to show it as new and then resell it under a contract.

Re: Apple iPhone 8 / 8 Plus & iPhone X Reservation numbers / Questions!

Historically, do people who pre-ordered and paid for their device in advance receive their devices prior to those who reserved their units in store?

Hello

No they do not. All orders will be sent out. However it depends once again on stock.

You will only get it shipped to your home so that's the only difference. That and u don't need to do any paper work or head to the store. Also sometimes the stores don't call u to pick up the device so u need to call your self.

Yes they are both the same. The only difference is the locking to the carrier if u get it from the carrier.

It all depends on which carrier u want to use it with but most carriers in Canada and US will work.

The Apple site lists two models:  iPhone X -  A1865, A1901. How do I know which I will receive?

iPhone X - Technical Specifications - Apple (CA)

  • Model A1865*
  • FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66)
  • TD-LTE (Bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41)
  • TD-SCDMA 1900 (F), 2000 (A)
  • CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900, 2100 MHz)
  • UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)
  • GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
  • Model A1901*
  • FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66)

Re: Apple iPhone 8 / 8 Plus & iPhone X Reservation numbers / Questions!

@Meowmix    It happens all the time, that a store wont call the person to tell them they received a reservation. Let alone calling the store yourself and they dont even answer cause they are busy with clients.

This is part of the reason i always ship to home now on pre-orders. The other reason, is the policy change at rogers stores that we need to pay up front for our new upgrades.  I personally prefer paying it on the next bill so i can sell my current phone etc.

Hello @McBoober

Model A1901 is the correct one. The other one works for CDMA carriers which Canada does not have.

Hello @enigma4321

Yeah that's true. However Bell and Telus are doing the same now if u want to upgrade in store. So I guess it's all carriers starting to do this. The only way to avoid is doing ship to home orders or call in ( when the phone is available) and place a order.
