I had an old "grandfathered Plan" back from when the first iphone was released with the $30 6gb data plan. I then 4 yrs ago switched to android and have had numberous issues with each android phone i had. I currently have a samsung s6 Edge 64 gb... nothing but issues since day one and since the new update even worse. I had gone to a rogers kiosk at the end of february just to inquire about when my contract would end when the sales person said i can make your plan $15 cheaper i'm ok how?... didnt explain nothing to me. I did tell the sales person that i had a grandfathered plan that i wasnt willing to change/lose features on. The person said it wouldnt change a single thing. I still didnt authorize the sales person to make changes to my plan/account. But the person still did and i lost 3/4 of the features on the grandfathered plan. I went into my rogers plus store to complain and try to get my plan back but unfortunately they no longer offered my grandfathered plan. The manager called loyalty for me and loyalty was only willing to offer me 5gb data which i refused as i liked having the 6gb data as a safety net. it went back and forth for a month. I even threatened to leave and checked all other carriers but nobody offered anything compareable to the grandfathered plan i had. So then i went back to rogers plus store in may to try to get this settled. plus store manager managed to contact the regional manager who was able to offer me the current plan i have share everything 7 gb data for the price i was paying for my grandfathered plan on a per year basis. I still managed to get spotify free for 2 years with this new plan, which rogers still managed to charge me for for 2 months.
It should be eligible as the manager at the local rogers plus store assured me it is fine. And its the share everything 7gb data plan that rogers currently has so it should be eligible. I do not want to go thru loyality or retentions ever. That was a nightmare. Like i had said i had to fight with rogers just to get this current plan. i'm going to have another fight on my hands with rogers just so they credit me back the 2 months of spotify that they charged me for that they shouldnt have.
Mine is the share everything 7gb data with unlimited canada wide, unlimited international texting, call display and other goodies for under $100 as well then gst so its just over $100. Loyalty was only willing to offer me 5Gb data even thou ive been with rogers for 20 yrs.
For those who have been following my story, it has finally come to an end.
I managed to reserve an iPhone 7+ Matte Black 256 gb at the Apple Store in Fairview Point-Claire (Quebec) for pickup tonight. The Apple Store specialist who helped me went through the process with me really smoothly!
He was able to renew my Rogers consumer account without any plan change without any problem. I was a bit hesitant as first because I had initially reserved a 128 gb and did not want to go for a 256 gb since 128 is plenty for me, but the price difference on contract was 100$... so might as well. Once I signed all the papers and walked out with iPhone 7+, I immediately cancelled my current reservation. Who knows how long I would have had to wait for? I did not have to pay anything upfront as it will be on my next invoice, I only purchased Apple Care which was 200$ for 2 years.
For those still looking to get their hands on a Matte Black 7+, the specialist told me there was still some available in the back in the 32gb and 256 gb sizes.. If you are quick enough on the reservation system you might get one!
