can't send text messages

Hi I'm running unlocked & rooted samsung captivate (cyanogenmod 7 with the glitch kernel and kg3 modem)

I can receive but not send text messages, everything else works fine.

I checked my smsc number ( after pressing *#*#4636#*#*) and it shows "00"  so I suspect that could be the issue..

what's the smsc number? does it need to be pdu encoded before entering?

I found "+17057969300" on the web but when trying to enter it in the smsc field it fails on clicking update

does it have to be pdu encoded?

These would be the settings to program a Rogers phone, hopefully it helps 🙂

To program the SMSC (Text Messaging) number on Android devices, please follow these steps:

1. Go to the phone application.
2. From the phone application, press *#*#4636#*#*.  (You will have to press the Call or Send button after entering this code in for some Android devices).
3. Tap on Phone Information
4. Scroll to the bottom to where it says SMSC and enter this number exactly as you see on this page (including all symbols): +17057969300
5. Press Update.

(can recieve sms, just can't send them)

So, after doing a factory reset - still no outgoing sms messages!

I decided to put my sim card in another phone, and... outgoing sms failed in that phone too!

Bought a new $10 sim card, and everything is working again! (although I now have to restore the phone after the factory reset...)

the correct smsc info is "+17057969300",145

but you have to enter the part of the string in hex.

so enter this 07917150979603F0 and hit update.

the reboot phone and go back in and enter it again and update one last time.

and it should work.

I am suddenly having the same issue on an LG G3.  The *#*#4636#*# option does not work on this phone could be the andriod 5.01.  I was able to find the  smsc number and it is correctly set.

Any other suggestions?

I know this is an old thread, but it's one of the only things I found on this issue on Rogers Wireless.

Outgoing SMS was failing, incoming fine.  Factory reset didn't help, SMSC was set correctly.

What fixed it, it seems, was a Rogers tech "resetting my phone on the network."  After 5min, SMS started working again after not working for over a week.
