Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ Reservation numbers / Questions

Hey everyone!!Smiley Happy

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Galaxy S line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this morning announced the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+!. The device has a breathe taking new design which includes 88% screen ration, S8 is 5'7 inch screen and the S8+ is 6'2 inch screen, Fingerprint sensor on the back and new Snapdragon processor. Also comes in different colors and includes more features!!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Click on the account you want to access ( Some have multiple accounts ) - click on your number ( if you have multiple numbers) - scroll down and click on Device Reservation. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want and it wil,l show you a list which will include the Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ in Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues . The reservation list is different statues and numbers for all models / colors and groups ( Business, Consumer and pre orders have different line ups and numbers.)

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them or going to the store. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online. The store can help you log into ur account and let u do it but there is no pre order list in store.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help Smiley Happy

EDIT - The phone is available in Midnight Black and Orchid Gray in Canada. Maple Gold, Tactic Silver and Coral Blue, along with Midnight Black and Orchid Gray colour variants will be available in the U.S. and other markets.

So sadly we are only getting the Midnight Black and Orichrd Gray in Canada. Later on we will get the other colors hopefully.

EDIT 2 - In Canada the S8 is set to start at $1,035 CAD with the S8+ costing $1,115. Carrier pricing is not avialable  at the moment. Soon it will be.

EDIT 3 - April 21st is when the S8 / S8+ will be launched!

Supply Chain? Im sure all colours are made and shipped from the same factories.

Yes @italianfitguy they are but they use a formula to determine how popular each colour will be in each region. It is not a perfect system which leads to the issues we are currently experiencing.

While they may come from the same factory they do not always produce the same amount of each colour.

Hello @italianfitguy

That is correct but the pre orders determine which colors are more popular and thus make more for let's say black vs gray. That's what I seen has happened with many devices.

As RAwhite1987 said, they never produce the same colors in all the same amounts.

Ok, lets be honest here. I am #11 and Italianguy is #12 for S8+ Grey. Do you guys truly believe the problem is just a simple shortage because they thought the Black would be a better seller than Grey. Are you telling me Samsung didn't expect Rogers to sell at least 12 of these phones?  I have been trying to tell you guys there is something wierd going on with the Grey for 4 days now and it wasn't until today that anyone even acknowledged I might be right. I really don't care if I get the phone Monday, Tuesday or even next Friday but I am tired of people telling me to be patient when they don't know anymore than I do on what the issue is.

Why would Rogers put my order In Progress and lock me out of making any changes if they knew they didn't have any of these phones? I can't even cancel the order? When the order status changed to In Progress, people on this forum said that meant Rogers put your name on a phone and is getting it ready for shipment. Well that wasn't a true statement because it appears they don't have a phone to put my name on!

Rogers people read these forums and could do us all a favor and just answer the questions but they don't. They seem to like keeping their customers in the dark! If they don't want to discuss this issue on the forum, give the answer to the resident expert so he can communicate what is going on!

Hello @SwordFish99

As you know, that won't be done as even the Mods on here get that information. They usually only get information if the warehouse gives it out and they usually don't unless it's a huge issue.

As far as I know, if the status has changed and u don't have a number ( since ur status changes and u lose ur number) that means they have the device and are getting ready to ship out. Why haven't they shipped it out? I don't know BUT read below to see even Bell and Telus haven't shipped out any Gray ones for the S8+.

"Update: Telus and Bell customers are now reporting to that email shipment notifications have come through for the black model of the Galaxy S8 will be available for pick up on April 17th. However, it seems that the S8+ in Orchid Grey has not shipped yet. ^IH,"

That was updated this afternoon. I know a few people that theirs showed in process with Bell but haven't changed to shipped yet. They have the gray S8+. So either Samsung and carriers are waiting until next week to ship them out or Rogers prematurely changed the statues by accident.

IN the end I want to see who starts shipping the gray ones out first. The very first S8 and S8+ devices shipped out from T-Mobile in Greece were shipped out in black. Then some in the US got black as well. Someone within Telus got 2 Black sent to them as well. All S8+. None of them that have been shipped out early were gray.

I am starting to think that Samsung barely sent any of them out OR have but have told carriers to send them out on Monday and on.

Best thing to do now is to wait until tomorrow since @Meowmix stated the warehouses will be shipping phones out tomorrow. Hopefully, we will have more information then.

Hello @Gurneet

I hope so. They should be able to send some out tomorrow unless UPS and Canada post won't pick up ( usually they do deliveries on Saturdays but some pick ups). If not Monday will be the next business day.

Thank you Swordfish, you took the words right out of my mouth. Apparently samsung pre produced 20 million of these badboys, im sure the allocated more than 12 for canada lol. There is something they are not telling us.

Hello @italianfitguy

I am wondering if something is going on. As i said in my reply to SwordFish99, all the ones that have been either shipped out for Monday or shipped out and Recieved early, have been Midnight Black S8+ devices. None of them have been Orchard Gray.

So either Samsung is holding them back until Monday for shipping and the same with carriers, or something fishy is happening.

Again.. there was talk of potential delays with the chips prior to release. From a purely corporate perspective if there was an issue with production they would not tell us as it would result in financial ruin for Samsung akin to RIM.

Unless the Orchid Grey S8+ starts exploding I would not expect any response.

@Meowmix Based on what i read online, they do saturday pick ups, but it is a separate service Rogers must request. I am assuming it would cost more and not sure if Rogers would be willing to pay more.

Hello @Gurneet

Maybe. They have done it before with the iPhones so i am pretty sure they can do it but choice to which launches they want too.

Sources I spoken to last year with the iPhone 7, they had UPS pick them up on Saturdays from the warehouse too.

Hello @RAwhite1987

Exactly. But even then that means that the black one would have had that issue too for the S8+. In the end we won't get any answers as Samsung and carriers don't say much.

@Meowmix watch it boil down to something like they ran out of dye to produce the grey colour of the phones...

Reminds me of when FORD first started selling the model T, they advertised that you could get it in any colour, as long as it was black lol

Hello @RAwhite1987

On another site forum I am on, I said something similar. They may have issues producing that color in mass production but that still doesn't answer why some here have IN PROGRESS status changed and yet nothing shipped out.

Hello @italianfitguy

This also reminds me of the iPhone devices. When they release a new color, they somehow have no devices at launch with that color or a small amount lol.

Samsung did the same with the Note 7 Coral Blue. I remember that too.

@Meowmix This is why they only produce two colours at launch. So much easier than mass producing a dozen different colours.

Hello @RAwhite1987

Well Samsung did produce Midnight Black, Orchard Gray, Silver and Cora Blue and Maple but we in Canada got only the two normal colors lol.

Seems like black was easier to mass produce then Orchard Gray

Very true Meowmix, i do remember that, but i actually received my coral blue note 7 on the first day. I was lucky, or unlucky, depending on how you look at it "BOOM" lol

You know the saying @Meowmix. Once you go black you never go back.

Following that logic it makes sense they would make more black ones.
