Hey everyone!!Smiley Happy

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Galaxy S line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this morning announced the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+!. The device has a breathe taking new design which includes 88% screen ration, S8 is 5'7 inch screen and the S8+ is 6'2 inch screen, Fingerprint sensor on the back and new Snapdragon processor. Also comes in different colors and includes more features!! 



1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Click on the account you want to access ( Some have multiple accounts ) - click on your number ( if you have multiple numbers) - scroll down and click on Device Reservation. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want and it wil,l show you a list which will include the Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ in Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues . The reservation list is different statues and numbers for all models / colors and groups ( Business, Consumer and pre orders have different line ups and numbers.)

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them or going to the store. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online. The store can help you log into ur account and let u do it but there is no pre order list in store.


2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.


3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.


4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

EDIT - The phone is available in Midnight Black and Orchid Gray in Canada. Maple Gold, Tactic Silver and Coral Blue, along with Midnight Black and Orchid Gray colour variants will be available in the U.S. and other markets. 

 

So sadly we are only getting the Midnight Black and Orichrd Gray in Canada. Later on we will get the other colors hopefully. 

 

EDIT 2 - In Canada the S8 is set to start at $1,035 CAD with the S8+ costing $1,115. Carrier pricing is not avialable  at the moment. Soon it will be. 

 

EDIT 3 - April 21st is when the S8 / S8+ will be launched!

Yeah, I understand. And I missed it all, because I preordered right at March 30, while the form was non-existent yet, and I went on with my life, waiting for an email or a call about my phone reservation like I was told to do by Rogers reps. I will disagree, however, that I "should have" spent my time randomly searching for information without any reason in the days following my reservation.

When you buy anything, do you go ahead and google things up every day to make sure that no new rule was added? Me - no. I buy something and I expect it delivered, or at least to be notified if any further actions are required.

Unfortunately that isn't Samsung or Rogers fault. As a customer pre ordering, u should have scanned or looked at the Rogers or Samsung website to see how to get the pre order bonus. That's the customers responsibility. You can't sit there and blame Rogers or the rep as they did not get that information until a couple days AFTER u called in and pre ordered. So that's not their fault sadly.

Rogers did their due diligence and posted on how to get it on their website. They do not email customers on how to do that. That is something u should contact Samsung about as they are the ones providing the Gear VR and controller as a pre order to ALL carriers are the world.. Not just Rogers. Samsung is the one providing that link over to the carriers. Not Rogers. Rogers did their part. In the end it's also the users fault for not doing their job for looking a bit more into it. If u had time to call into Rogers to go a pre order, I'm sure u could have taken a couple of minutes to look around online. It was actually everywhere if u would have just looked a bit on Google or the sites. It takes only a couple minutes.

Again you failed to understand that when u did the pre order, the customer care agents and reps had ZERO knowledge on how the pre orders would work until Samsung started popping up 2-3 days after you did ur pre ordered and poste on their website and carriers did the same on how to gain it. Rogers has nothing else to do. They won't mass spam emails to every customer that had a wireless account on how to get it. The reps won't remember ur name or email to send u a email either. Also reps are NOT allowed to email you or contact u unless it's for a urgent matter and even then they won't sit there and email someone about how to get the pre order bonus. The transaction was done over the phone and that's it. The reps gave out the information they had at that time. . I have read stories like this WITH Bell and Fido yet they did their part on saying how to do so.. The customers always have to do research them selfs as well. That's how it works.

In the end your only option at this point is to contact Samsung Canada and speak to their management level. See if they can do the same. Hopefully it works out but keep this in mind, do search a couple days after the pre order as this can happen again and with any carrier. Telus got lucky and got the deal with Samsung to have the pre order bonus sent out st the same time and same as best buy but not anyone else.

Again it only takes a couple minutes to look online after a couple of days to see what's going on and what else is new. The carriers aren't responsible to contact all pre order customers on how to get their pre order bonus as its common sense that if u know u want the S8 or whatever phone it may be, u know how to get the pre order bonus as it was posted on the Rogers main website as well.


Also yes i do and I know many that do as they get excited to get a new product and they read reviews, look at videos and any new information that may come out. That's how many of us are. Some aren't but those can't blame the manufacturer or carrier if they failed to do a simple search. They provided the information in many ways. It's also the responsibility of the user or customer to look around and see.


Anyways follow the steps above and see if Samsung can do something or u. If not then unfortunately I can't say much.

That's what I did, contacted Samsung and hoping to get this resolved. As for "u should have scanned or looked at the Rogers or Samsung website to see how to get the pre order bonus" First of all, no, I shouldn't have, as I asked whether I need to do anything to the customer representative, and he said no.
Second of all, I did look, and it was not there. Like you said, it was updated only a few days later, hence why rogers didn't say anything to me. And I did spend time on that day looking for info. What was told me that I will get an email and it will have details on how to redeem my bonus Gear VR. And then after that, I didn't check every day until the rules change. Because if rules change, customers are supposed to get notified.

 

Sum up:

1) I asked whether I need to do anything - answer no, wait for email to redeem your gear vr.

2) I checked the website and didn't see anything relevant.

3) A few days later rules changed, and I was too busy with my life to continue checking websites every single day looking for additional info on whether I now need to dance with a stick in my hand in order to get my gear vr.

4) Nobody communicated #3 to me, neither samsung, neither rogers.

5) Unhappy customer.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. I worked at Best Buy and when something changed for pre orders bonuses, we never contacted the customers as it wasn't our responsibility to do some unless it was a date when the product would come in and or if he had the product. Also Rogers posted it on their website April 3rd. The same day Samsung and Bell did. Also Mobilesyrup poste this too and so did I and many others on here. Also other tech sites did as well. A simple search on Google saying " Pre orders bonus S8," would show u about 15 links showing u just that.

In the end I see ur point but again as a customer you should have done ur search a bit after. Taking a couple minutes out of ur day to look wouldn't hurt. Also again i can't stress this enough. Rogers reps won't and will not contact u to give u information on how to redeem a pre order bonus. They aren't allowed too. Rogers did their job and posted it on their Facebook, Twitter, site and I did on this thread. Samsung Canada did their job and posted it on their Facebook, Twitter, online page, forums and many other places..

Sorry you are a unhappy customer but this isn't something I will sit here and blame Rogers as its not their fault. Take it as u wish. Next time remember to always look around a couple days after u do the pre order or announcement of the phone for more information.. They aren't responsible to mass spam emails to everyone just to inform u.

I got an SMS message from Rogers about 8 days after I pre-ordered reminding me to fill out the form.  I'm assuming, maybe wrongly, that everyone that pre-ordered with a Rogers number did also get that text?

I got a text as well about it with the link as well. It should have been sent out but even then they did their job and sent out the information.. If the user did not get it, it's not Rogers fault. They also displayed it very well online and here. ( just making it a bit clear for him or her)

I upgraded plan to get the s8+ and was under the understanding that I would get the netflix offer. Its that not the case for corporate customers? I haven't received a text from Rogers. Have any other Corporate customers?

Ps: Loving the phone. Amazing screen. Zippy fast. I'm not a tech person so do not send me through the ringer on this one. The operating system (?) is the best I've used this far. Amazing pictures.

I'm sorry to hear about the issues of some re free gift. Despite particular reasons it sucks to lose out due to miscommunications. And to make matters worse, to still not have your device. I hope things get better soon.

Thanks. Definitely, sucks. Especially sucks to have rogers call me today with good news. I am eligible to upgrade my device. When I said that I'm still waiting for my new samsung galaxy s8+, they just said ok nevermind bye bye. It also sucks to constantly see ads by rogers about some dude who reserved his samsung galaxy s8 and is enjoying it. And I'm still waiting, even though I preordered one of the first (march 30), unlike most people here, who preordered mid-april and got it already. 😞

To other commenters above, I assume the reason why I didn't get any text or email or update of any kind, is because I ordered through calling rogers sales team, rather than on the website (which was not letting me submit the order at that time).

Mine did not come with an adapter or a power supply, it's from the Rogers store at $79.00

However there does seem to be room under the pad in the box for maybe a 120 to USB and perhaps a cable.

Hence I have not tried it yet.....guess i need to have a word with the store as to missing items.

The store rep sold u the proper item.. The fast Wireless pads do NOT come with any cable for fast charging adapter. If you read the back of the retail box it says " the Wireless FAST CHARGE FEATURE requires AFC travel adapter and USB 2.0 cable"

Mine never came with a Adapter or cable. Just the pad it self. Samsung did this so u can pay more to get the AFC adapter. This isn't Rogers fault here as well. There is one which including the cable and adapter but that's about $120.

I also ordered on the 30th. I also had to call in. I am a corporate customer though.

I just received my phone. Hopefully Yours will be in soon. However, If you've already lost out on the free gift. Might be worth it to call around tomorrow and see if any stores have one in stock. I've always lucked out with this approach.

I think you might have just fallen into some bad luck here. It is a great phone. I hope you figure it out sooner rather then later. Good luck.

If you don't have the correct FastCharge 2.0 or 3.0 adapter, then you will not fast charge.  However, there is a FC adapter that DID come with the phone from Samsung.  You just need a cable to go from the adapter to the pad.  However, be aware that not all cables are even capable of carrying that current.

 

Most USB charging cables are made with 28 gauge wire which will barely handle 500mah.  Thicker charging cables will be made from 28 gauge data lines and 24 gauge charging lines.  These 24 gauge wires can handle up to 2amps, which will initiate fast charge.  However, quick charge 2.0 is based on 9 volts at 1.67 amps, or 5 volts at 2 amps.  5v is slightly slower, but still a fast charge.  Fast Charge 3.0 is based on 12 volts and 1.5 amps, and can ramp to 20v at times as well.

 

The adapter that came with the phone will do a 9V/1.67a charge for that pad, if it can pull it, enabling quick wireless charging.

 

If you want a better charger adapter, anything from Anker on amazon.ca will fit the bill nicely and Anker makes very good quality charging and USB accessories.  Here is a link for a single port Anker QC 3.0 charger to go to your current charging pad.

Heyo,

 

Just a heads up for business clients. I was 3 out of XXX. I needed new device as i was leaving on trip. Decided to just pick one up in store instead. So i canceled my business Pre-Order & thought it just forgoed the VR.

 

Contacted Samsung & they told me that even though it wasnt a Pre-Order. Since i registed for the VR already I would still get the VR bonus. I confirmed multiple times with the Agent.

 

With that said, I do not have it in hand & have not gotten a shipping email as of yet. But have a transcript of the chat with the agent. Samsung.jpg

I too orderd via phone on March 30th.  Coporate customer due to Plan that I have.

I had tried to order online but it would not let me buy it outright.  The option was there but it did not change page when I clicked on it.

 

Spoke with two Rogers customer care first before being connected  - Consumer ---> Business ----> Corporate

I was able to order the phone while driving in my car and the sales rep even texed me my confirmation number because I told him I could not write it down at the time.

 

I did ask about the Promotional Gear VR specifically at the time and he reminded me that I had to register with my order number on the Samsung Promotional Web site.

 

I am sorry you missed out on the Gear VR promo.  I did also notice it on the Rogers web site when I was trying to initially order online.  In fact I had to go back there to get the link.

 

I was # 27 when I put in the oreder and my first email confirmation from Rogers told me I was #27 out of 53 later that evening.

 

I recieved the phone on Friday April 28 just afer noon and less than 24hrs after Rogers sent me notification that it had been shipped.

 

Best of luck you will enjoy the phone once you have it in your hands.
