Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ Reservation numbers / Questions

Hey everyone!!Smiley Happy

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Galaxy S line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this morning announced the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+!. The device has a breathe taking new design which includes 88% screen ration, S8 is 5'7 inch screen and the S8+ is 6'2 inch screen, Fingerprint sensor on the back and new Snapdragon processor. Also comes in different colors and includes more features!!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Click on the account you want to access ( Some have multiple accounts ) - click on your number ( if you have multiple numbers) - scroll down and click on Device Reservation. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want and it wil,l show you a list which will include the Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ in Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues . The reservation list is different statues and numbers for all models / colors and groups ( Business, Consumer and pre orders have different line ups and numbers.)

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them or going to the store. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online. The store can help you log into ur account and let u do it but there is no pre order list in store.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help Smiley Happy

EDIT - The phone is available in Midnight Black and Orchid Gray in Canada. Maple Gold, Tactic Silver and Coral Blue, along with Midnight Black and Orchid Gray colour variants will be available in the U.S. and other markets.

So sadly we are only getting the Midnight Black and Orichrd Gray in Canada. Later on we will get the other colors hopefully.

EDIT 2 - In Canada the S8 is set to start at $1,035 CAD with the S8+ costing $1,115. Carrier pricing is not avialable  at the moment. Soon it will be.

EDIT 3 - April 21st is when the S8 / S8+ will be launched!

Hey guy!

I'm pretty jealous at the moment! One of my Greek patriots in Greece already has the T-Mobile model in his hands and is enjoying it! Seems like T-Mobile was and is sending them out pre maturely lol.

Maybe Rogers will let us have ours today? Doubt it haha.

Seems strange that they didn't send emails to everyone. I am #11 for S8+ Orchid and didn't receive anything. Status still says In Progress. You would think mine would be at the beginning somewhere??

Hello @SwordFish99

Again they can send them out today as well. Patience is the key :). It all depends on how many units they gave the UPS trucks and what else they had. Do remember UPS trucks can only take so much and the warehouse they send them from also send stores rental boxes for cable and internet, remotes and everything else. So not all the IN PROGRESS device would be shipped out at once.

I spoke with Rogers and while using some VERY colourful language that shall never be repeated I was told they had charged my account for the device I reserved in store.

According to the rep their new way of doing things is to charge accounts direct rather than pay in store for device reservations.

They said they did not have access to reservations or pre-orders only "stall 9" would. Regardless, they said only one device could be preordered/reserved at a time so there is no way I could have a device reserved and accidentally ordered online.

All in all I think I will end up explaining to the people in store how I alreasy paid for a phone I have yet to recieve.

Hello @RAwhite1987

That is incorrect.. They do NOT charge your account if u do a reservation. I don't know where this representative is getting their information but it's incorrect. Very wrong.

You will have to pay in store when u get the device u reserved. This changed a couple months ago. Seems the rep is falsely giving wrong information.

Since they have no access to the reservations, how could they charge ur account unless the upgrade was already done in person but in store u pay upfront. Over the phone it gets add on the invoice..

A reservation isn't a upgrade. A reservation is when u reserved a device under your name to pick it up in store. When u are at the store u can either do a new account, upgrade or buy it outright. Nothing is charged on ur account other then the $40 reservation fee which got credited back to u after it ships out.

I can reserve a decide and do a oder at the same time. It doesn't cancel eachother out and won't affect anything. This rep needs more learning on how to give our correct information instead if false information.

Hey,

So we should have lost the ability to charge upgrades to our next bill in February? I pre-ordered the S8 as an upgrade on April 4th online and was able to select to 'charge to next bill' as opposed to paying via CC.

Hello @ghammer80

When doing a upgrade IN store, you will have to pay upfront for the cost instead having it added to ur next month invoice. So this is for anyone doing upgrades in store like us reservations and walk ins.

The pay now ship faster option charges u on the invoice or CC which ever one u want. That works

This is only for the stores. Rogers reps have confirmed this.

" Upgrading Via Call center or online will remain on statue que and charge ur invoice as normal. This is only for the Rogers stores and Rogers third party locations. "

So wait do we have to change our plans to be able to upgrade, despite already being on a premium tab plan? The price was horrible before, now it's an extra $15 over my plan that I got just 8 months ago? $25 for this "premium plus" thing, as if the premium tab wasn't expensive enough already.

I honestly don't know how anyone who decides these prices can live with themselves, it's truly criminal. It's now cheaper to get an international plan from a US carrier.

Hello @DillonN

IN order to get the device on a lower sub price on a plan, you have to pick the Premium + plan.

So for me I am paying $320 for the S8+ having the Premium+plan instead of the regular Premium Plan which would cost me $550 for the phone. That's the main difference.

The newer + Plans are more expensive but u pay less for the phone upfront. They are also letting customers know their older plans may not work for new devices ( system wise) and want them to upgrade to the new ones.

Has anyone who "preordered online" instead of "reserved for pick up" received any communication from Rogers at all? I preordered mine (S8+ Orchid Grey) on April 1st and then had to confirm through Live Chat about a week later that my order had actually been registered, but still nothing in writing from Rogers.

Right, I get that there's a Premium+ now. I was mostly talking about the Premium option though. I'm OK with paying the $500 for the phone as a Premium tab, and keeping my current plan (which is a Premium tab). But people are telling me that I have to upgrade to a "new" Premium tab plan, which is $15 more for the exact same thing, because my plan is "retention"? Like I said it's barely 8 months old I don't understand how it can go up $15

Hello @DillonN

Most carriers every year or so change their plans around. So for people to upgrade, they want their customers to upgrade to the new plans which is the premium+ plan to get the device. The $15 I can't answer to that and u won't really get a answer sadly.

Did I read somewhere on this forum that for upgrades done in-store that the cost of the device is now paid for in-store as opposed to it being billed to the account?
