Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Questions / Reservation number!

Meowmix

Hey everyone!!

I am happy to announce that Samsung this morning announced the Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge!. Both device's seem to have amazing specs! Including memory SD card slot, water resistant and more!!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy S7 &S7 Edge to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Product & Services – Wireless & you will see a Red wording saying “Device Reservation" on the main page. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want; Samsung S7 Black, S7 Silver or S7 Edge Black. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues .

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

EDIT - As of tomorrow February 22nd the reservations system will open for us to reserve the device!. There is no time unfortunately.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help :).

Hello @sparky70

That is correct but no carrier at this moment has announced when they will carry it. Only the Samsung Experience stores have announced it.

I was reading online that the S7 is dual sim. Is that the case for all models or just certain ones?

Hello @mohawkrocker

Only the international models are. North America and the US never gets dual sim devices.

I followed the supplied links to the Samsung page offering the $65 of VR apps but whenever I enter my info and IMEI and attempt to submit it just jumps me back to the top of the page. No errors get thrown. Am I missing something? When you entered your info did it send you a confirmation? I know it's doing something behind the scenes because the captcha changes.

Hello @JGordon

Mine did that around 4-5 times. After that it worked. I remember I was getting frustrated lol. You need to upload a image in order for it to him go through. Yeah that too

EDIT - Spelling

Re: Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Questions / Reservation number!

Did you upload a photo in that captcha thing?  I had a similar thing happen until I realized that it's asking for you to upload a photo.  I just uploaded a random photo and then it went through after that.

Hello @ufojoe

That is correct. The only way it will work is if u upload a image. I uploaded a image of my Gear VR and device and worked

Re: Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Questions / Reservation number!

That's really strange. It worked, though. Thanks to you both!

Finally on "In Progress" stage of my reservation for the s7 edge as of this morning.

Just had a question about the free gear vr offer. Will it ship to the store with the phone, or how does it work? I can't seem to find any info on claiming the promotion.

Thanks!

Ill be suprised if we actually get the gear VR at this point.  This whole reservation system has made the expirence of getting the "latest and greatest" about as fun as going to the dentist.  I talked to loyalty on the phone and a rep through onine chat a couple weeks ago as I was upset about the fact that any Joe Shmoe could walk into a store and pick up the S7E when they were in stock, but if I wanted to I would have to give up my reservation bonus.  I was ready to change carriers over this when I was talked off a ledge by them letting me know about the promotion where you receive $225 off plus the $175 for a trade in.  Fast forward to a few hours ago when I called in with a couple of quick questions and I was told that the promotion ends tomorrow and I will not be able to get it as my phone will not be in by tomorrow.

Basically they ran a promo for a phone that is not in stock, only to end it right before it is back in stock.

Ive been a customer for 12 years with them, and if they wont honor this promo and the pre order bonus, I honestly cant see this reationship going any further.

I got fed up, I cancelled my reservation after talking to retentiosn /customer service.  They "had" a 7 edge they could ship me and I woul rcve it by the end of the week, they took $200 of the my bill, and when I reiterated the same thing about the promo, they gave me the $160 credit on my bill for that.  It meant that i had to go to the local best buy and purchase one, but hey. My phone is on the way, I have the gear VR in hand ans the phone did not cost me the 499, I got it for 299.

So in hindsite the reservation system is broken, rogers runs promos for things they do not have in stock, and it takes (and I timed it) over 7 hours of my time since 9 MArch to get a new phone, and threats to leave Rogers. (still dont have it in my hand).

Seriously thre is something thats need correcting, because I met a work collegue yesterday,  he bought his new 7 edge, 10 days ago, from a rogers store, no reservation, just on a whim.

Hello @Redzed

Have you tried speaking to a manager and seeing if they can leave a note on your account letting them know that the discount should apply and to call back when the bill is out to get it? Try that and see. It should work.

As for the Gear VR it did say " While quantities last" so it could well mean that you may not get it. It's not Rogers fault here as Samsung put that rule out. Same applies for them selfs and any carrier. Best Buy had the same thing. Either way we shall see.

Hello @sparky70

Yeah the reservation does have issues but unfortunately nothing can be done about the units. That's all up to the manufacturers on how many they send to the carriers. After that it all depends on how the carrier do it. Most Rogers corporate stores did not get any units in stock other then the reservations ones. A week ago they slowly got one or two in but that was about it. Now slowly they are starting to receive units more. Best Buy still has low inventory as well ( check it every day).
