Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Reservation/ Pre Order & Questions

Meowmix

Hey Everyone!

Samsung is about to announce the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 in just about an hr!. From the leaks its so far a amazing device! I will update this with the specs and launch date / pre order date when they announce it!

Below is how to do a pre order or reservation to store with Rogers!

How to reserve to store as a existing customer:

  1. Log in to My Account on Rogers.com

  2. Under Account choose Wireless.

  3. Go to Manage My Device at the bottom of the page.

  4. Click Upgrade My Device.

  5. Choose The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 as a “ Pre order

  6. Pick either Ship To Home or Ship to store (Device Reservation / Pre Order )

  7. Choose a phone from the Phone Model drop-down.

  1. Only phones that can be reserved will appear.

7. Review the account information next to your selection.

  1. The email address must be auto-populated in the right section of the reservation form. Otherwise, you can’t reserve a device.

  2. If the email is not auto-populated, first add the email address in the appropriate field of your My Account profile. Then, log out and log back in.

8. Select a store to pick up your phone.

9. Review the reservation details and click I AGREE to accept the Terms and Conditions.

10. Click Reserve to complete the reservation. A store representative will call you when the device is ready for pick-up.

How to reserve if you’re a new customer

  1. Go to https://www.rogers.com/web/link/DeviceReservation?forwardTo=nrsRegisteredCustomer

  2. Click Sign Up and enter your email address. ( It may tell you to also input all your info again.)

  3. Under Phone Information, choose the device you want to reserve, and click Continue. Only devices available for reservation will appear.

  4. Fill out the form under Personal Details and click Continue.

  5. Fill out the Payment Details for the refundable $40 reservation fee and click Continue.

  6. Select a store for device pick-up and click Continue.

  7. Review the reservation details and click I AGREE to accept the Terms and Conditions.

  8. Click Reserve to complete the reservation. A store representative will call you when the device is ready for pick-up.

Online Statuses

Open - Phone has been reserved

In Progress - Phone is in inventory and the order is being processed

Shipped - Phone is on its way to the chosen store

Cancelled - Reservation has been cancelled

Keeping you up posted along the way

  1. You’ll receive the following confirmations:

  2. An email after completing the reservation

  3. Weekly status emails confirming you number in line on the waiting list ( This is only for Ship to Store pre orders)

  4. An email when the device has been shipped to the store. (Includes a delivery tracking number) - ( This is only for Ship to Store pre orders)

  5. Phone call from a store representative when the device is ready for pick-up

Good things to know

  1. Phone can only be reserved, not purchased ( The purchase of the device will be done in store)

  2. You can change the pick-up location when the online order status is open. If the order status is in progress or shipped, the location cannot be changed

  3. Shipments typically take up 4 days, and your device is held in store for 3 days ( The delivery can be next day in most cases)

  4. If you don’t pick up your phone within 3 days, the reservation will be cancelled and be sold to a walk in customer. You can make alternate arrangements with the store manager if need be.

  5. Only the account holder or an authorized level 1 user (someone authorized to make changes on the account) can pick up the phone. Photo ID is required when picking up the phone.

  6. If a reservation was made to a location that is now closed, We’ll send the device to the closest Rogers store or authorized dealer in the area. The new store will contact you when the device arrives and is ready for pick up.

Reservation Fee

“What about this $40 reservation fee? Will it be returned to me?” You betcha. You’ll get a credit of $40 (+ taxes) for the reservation fee on your account if you reserved as an existing customer or to the original credit card if you reserved to activate a new line. Your reservation fee will be credited when:

  1. Your phone ships from our warehouse or

  2. You cancel your reservation online.

Before you go to the store to pick up your new phone, why not get a quote for your old phone and trade it in for a credit!

How To Pre Order Ship to Home:

The Option for Ship to Home Order is here now! So you can have the device shipped to your home straight. You will not be able to track its status and will not be able to see anything until you get a shipment email from Rogers. This can be the day before or the day of Launch. The only ones that can track the status of the orders is the ones that pick Ship to Store reservations. This is how the system works for both.  If you pick Ship to Home then the only email you will receive is the confirmation email and then Shipment email when its shipped out.

Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confuses about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

I know its alot to read at the moment but i am trying to cover all the bases for everyone so everyone knows how the reservation works and what they need to know! as always do not be afraid to ask any question you have as I
or any other member will answer it for you. I will do my best and answer all questions Cat Happy.

Hello @Soaringfox

Sadly I'm wrong? Read the FAQ on Rogers.... I go what Rogers says on their site and stores. Not other users on another forum... If the store let's the trades in happen with a broken down thag won't turn on? So be it but rules as below by Rogers and ALL the stores follow this. Unless a Rogers rep, store manager can correct me here. I invite them too.

" What devices are eligible for trade-in?

You can trade in phones or tablets from any carrier.
Devices that can power up and have working touchscreens (no cracks) are eligible for full trade-in value. Devices that don't meet these criteria may be eligible for lower trade-in values.
Depending on the age and condition of your device, it may not have any value. Rogers works with a third party vendor to determine the value of all devices.

Do you look for scratches, etc. when determining the value of my device?

No. We only look for three things when determining the value of your device:

It turns on.
The touchscreen works.
The touchscreen isn't cracked"

https://www.rogers.com/customer/support/article/rogers-trade-up-program-faqs

EDIT

" Congratulations! The trade-up value of your Google Pixel XL Canada may be:

$185.0"

This has to meet the eligibility of the read euo which i posted above. That means that the Device must turn in and be in working condition.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Reservation/ Pre Order & Questions

@Meowmix @Soaringfox

Did more research, you're both right (or both wrong).

Samsung has a *separate* promo in addition to rogers, where they give you $200 on top of the trade in value.

In my case, it's $0 + $200.

This is a copy/paste from Samsung's terms:

You save a $200 on the outright purchase, new activation or contract renewal of a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 when you trade in a select old phone. Offer is open to Canadian residents only. In order for the old phone to be eligible for this offer, it can be any make, any model, any manufacturer and any condition provided that: (i) it is verifiable in accordance with its serial number, and (ii) was purchased in Canada.

It isn't a Roger's trade up program bud. It's a Samsung one. Go read the thread. No point my going over it. Just don't need someone getting misinformation. It's a minimum trade of 200.
I'd have gone that route if I could wind it back. Shrugs

Hello @Gracie_C

That one is correct. You will get the $200 from that however I'm talking about the Rogers one. Not Samsung.

If you go on the Rogers promotions, it doesn't state anything a out the Samsung $200 credit. It says as long as it meets eligibility and brings u a link to the Rogers trade up.

Thats why it's a bit confusing.

Hello @Soaringfox

Thats fine however Rogers is also giving misinformation when they give u a link to their own trade up on the promotions page on the Rogers site. It doesn't state anything about the Samsung $200 promotion on there. That's where it gets confusing.

So my apologies on that

Hello @Gracie_C

" Google Pixel XL Canada

As much as $185.0"

So you will be getting as much as $180. May not be $200 but close enough. Click on the link below, input the device name and put "trade in" follow the steps and will show u the exact price.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Reservation/ Pre Order & Questions

@Meowmix , i'm expecting $200 minimum (via Samsung promo, which is eligible at carriers), and $380 max (Samsung promo + normal rogers trade-in).

It turns on for like 2 mins, maybe thats enough.

Based on the research I just did, its $200 minimum plus the trade in value (even if the trade in value is 0)

Thanks guys, very helpful, probably saved me $200!

I was able to get $250 off my Note 9 with my Note 4 trade in at the Samsung Experience store. YMMV.

Hello @Soaringfox

It seems like the glass used on the S and Note lines are very prone to get damaged. Dropped my S8+ last year in August and paid $426 to get it replaced. ( Authorized Samsung repair center).

Many have complaining about the same thing. That's one thing Samsung is having issues with. They went curved screen but didn't realize that if dropped, that curve screen can really be a pain.

Hi RogersLaura,

I received my Samsung Note 9 yesterday, but did not get the Google Home Mini. It was pre -ordered/reserve on August 9th under one of my business wireless phone numbers. I called into the customer service department for sales for business customers to ask if I will be receiving the Google Home Mini, to which the answer was that there is no promotion for this for the Samsung Note 9 whether during the pre -reservation or after and whether business or non-business customers. I also gave my Order ID number to see if it is mentioned there, and it is not.

Question: What is the truth or facts here about the Google Home Mini offer with the Samsung Note 9?

Thanks,

Hello @PalmTreo650

As 2 other business users on here reported, the business pre orders do not get the Google Mini Home offer. However they were offered a Bill credit due to the inconvenience.

Most offers that Rogers offers or promotions (unless coming from the manufacturer) are only for regular postpaid customer. Business customers don't get most offers.

I remember checking th business side and it only showed pre order bonus gift the Bluetooth earbuds. That's it. Where in the regular side it showed both.

Thanks for that information, I missed it being mentioned in this forum discussion. And that's fine that the bonus Google Home mini is only for the non-business customer - no exceptions. Just wanted to make sure we're not missing out if it wasn't otherwise.

Rule is a rule...

Thanks

Does anyone know if the Note 9 comes unlocked out of the box or do I need to call Rogers to do it?

Hello @OwnBoss

As of December 1st 2017, All devices come unlocked. They are no longer locked. Bell is locking their devices again and you can get then unlocked upon upgrading or buying the phone.

Rogers phones will be unlocked inside the box.

the curved glass on Samsung devices is still actually stronger than say the iphone X or most other phones out there.

Hello @IainS

I wouldn't say the same.. My S8+ got damaged while dropping it and the screen cracked on the curved glass and spider cracked. The same has been reported hundreds of times on XDA / AA and other forums from users tha reported it. I drop my 8 Plus and never did the glass crack.

I guess like many said. It depends on how the phone falls as the curved screen does make it more vornable to get cracked.

Also not many glass screen protectors do stick on the curved glass as well.
