Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Reservation numbers / Questions

Hey everyone!!

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Note line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this afternoon announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 7!. The device seem to have amazing specs! Including memory SD card slot, water resistant and most of all, curved screens on both side for the Note Series and Iris scanner!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Product & Services – Wireless & you will see a Red wording saying “Device Reservation" on the main page. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want; Samsung Note 7 Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues .

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

For frequently asked questions about the Rogers Reservation System, please click here Rogers Reservation FAQ

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help:)

Hello @rajeshr

They won't add $200 credit. It's only one $100 credit from Samsung Canada that is being given out if indeed its coming to Canada.

I've been here awhile

What other options are there as a replacement for the Note 7?   I was thinking of the S7 Edge too, but I would like other options.

Does anyone know if Rogers is still going to honour to include a 64Gb micro-SD card for Note 7 Pre-orders?   Mine was still in process prior to the initial recall and I don't think I qualify for the cash back promo refund since my original phone is an Iphone 4S.  Even so, I would like to keep my 4S and turn it into an Ipod for music 🙂

So far, Rogers hasn`t posted or sent anything out to existing pre-order customers to notify them that the Note 7 is no longer available and what options are available.

Hello @armchi

Unfortunately no they won't Honor is as u no longer will be getting the Note 7. The promo with the free 64GB memory card was only for the Note 7. Seeing as u won't be getting it, they won't offer it.. Also it was a promotion given to carriers by Samsung.

How is Samsung going to process refunds for Note 7 accessories? Am I taking it to the Samsung store, or do I send an email with the reciept?

Rogers said to contact Samsung about the accessories, Best Buy to contact Samsung too.

Best Buy said they will not do any returns if you swapped the device during the recall, since the IMEI will not match contract IMEI. Best Buy also won't refund any used memory card and screen protector for the Note 7, they said tough luck, since you used it. Also told me to go to Samsung Canada.

I'm not upset at Samsung, they need whoever is running logistics to put pressure on the third party retailers, or Rogers needs too.

I decided to go to Pixel or iPhone instead, so I have no need for two wireless chargers, the Note 7 LED Case, and a 128 GB Memory Card. All of which totaled around 430 after tax on accessories for me.  Best Buy won't take it back, and Rogers said to talk to Samsung, even though official notice on Samsung site is to get a refund for it.

Oct 13 is here and Samsung still doesn't know what to do with this debacle.

I just came back from BestBuy and returned my phone without any issues. Also, they accepted any used/new accessories for the phone as a refund. And they let me keep the 128gb memory card for my troubles.

@Meowmix - other than the $100 credit that Samsung may offer, I'm asking whether they would refund the cost difference between the Note 7 and S7 Edge?  If not, then effectively you would be paying more than MSRP for the S7 Edge.

Hello @rajeshr

Unfortunately no. You still have to pay up the difference between one to another device. All carriers are doing this.

@Meowmix - sorry, I don't understand.  The S7 Edge is $100 cheaper than the Note 7.  Does Rogers/Samsung expect me to eat that cost - i.e. pay for the Note 7 but get a S7 Edge?  If that's the case, I'll get a refund and then buy the S7 Edge as it'll save me $100...

Hello @rajeshr

When you go into the store, they will return the Note 7 back and redo a upgrade again for the S7 edge depending in the pricing u get. U don't pay for the Note 7 as its being returned back.

You are correct.

The note 7 = $550

S7E = $450 = refund of $100 because of price difference + $100 additional Samsung credit (If Canadian subscribers are eligible for this credit)

They said they won't refund if imeis are different.

Returned my Note 7 last night and I picked up a iPhone 7 Plus 256gb last night thinking it would have good value later on. Cost was about $200 more than the Note 7.

Big mistake. The phone is so awful in the hand compared to the Note 7. I like the responsiveness but other than that the hardware simply feels old and heavy.

Going to take it back tonight for a refund.

In case anyone is wondering the return process took a bit but it did completely "undo" the Note 7 from my account. I had the proper account balance and my previous hardware upgrade fee restored plus two months of payments. I was surpised how well it worked.

Hello @Prospect

What? How would that work if one has returned the original Note 7 back to Samsung when they got the replacement?. Makes no sense

They said they won't refund if imeis are different.

They have to refund as most Note 7 users have phones with different IMEIs due to the replacement program.

As far as I know each department has specific instructions on how to return the phone. If you are talking about retail not returning the phone I confirmed with a retail rep yesterday that they have a specific scenario with instructions on how to return the phone if the IMEI doesn't match the contract. For call centre/online orders you have to call in and have them process it over the phone.

If you have a replacement phone they will inspect the device for the green battery indicator/black square on the packaging and return the device in their POS using the original IMEI on the receipt at the time of purchase. You can make it easier if you already have the receipt so they don't need to go look for it. It will also take about 15+ minutes to complete the transaction as they need to call in to their support group to process to return/refund.

Hmm,

Then I am in trouble. When I did my upgrade on launch day, my Note 7 was DOA. So, Rogers sent me a replacement within the same week, somehow they found stock.

The replacement was not defective free, it was recalled too.

Guess, I need Rogers to fix this mess.

For your entertainment.....

Those aware of what I have dealt with the last 30 days with Samsung, I got a call yesterday from Samsung advising that I need to send my phone back to them ( finally ). They sent me a way bill with Fedex and said they would pack the phone prior to shipping. I went to Fedex today and they basically held up crosses in my face, sprayed me with holy water and refused to accept the Note 7.

This is the 3rd place Samsung has sent me to return the phone in the last while. I'm beginning to think I'm on some hidden camera show. Someone's getting a real kick out of this.

I swore that I wouldn't put any effort into this anymore ( it's not my phone / I didn't pay for it ) but I just wanted to finally get rid of it, so I fell for it again. That's it. If they want it, they can knock on my door.

I can't get rid of this thing !

I tried to return a replacement Note 7 to a Rogers store today. Since it didn't have the IMEI of the original, Rogers couldn't do the return (cancel the new contract) and I was sent home with the Note 7.

Apparently this issue is software related on Rogers end and they will call me when it's resolved. I told them I was not returning the phone to Samsung, because I can't trust the logistics of how to get my refund and contract cancelled.

I do find it odd that there is no plan in place to deal with recalled devices.  Im my opinion, Samsung and Rogers should be inconvenienced, not the consumer. They have my $1000+ and I have a brick and no one can make that right today.

I'm sure it'll work out in the end......

Hello @IcoHolic

Hmm that's weird. Now i do have my original unit and most likely will bring it just incase this does happen.

I wonder why they haven't activated this yet. Did u ask them to call in?

Was it for a refund or phone replacement?  If a replacement, I think it's a problem with your store personnel.  I did the very same thing today (different IMEI than on the receipt) and it went through smoothly.  I also got credited an additional $100 for getting the S7 Edge (on top of the price difference between the Note 7 and Edge 7).

If you were looking for a refund, I was told that the process was not yet in place.

Does anyone have the link to the $100 Samsung credit? i exchanged my Note7 last night, and received the difference back between the note7 and edge7 (i had purchased the note7 outright, so i felt it was a dirty trade getting ony $40 back). I would like to get the extra $100 back.
