Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Reservation numbers / Questions

Hey everyone!!

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Note line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this afternoon announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 7!. The device seem to have amazing specs! Including memory SD card slot, water resistant and most of all, curved screens on both side for the Note Series and Iris scanner!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Product & Services – Wireless & you will see a Red wording saying “Device Reservation" on the main page. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want; Samsung Note 7 Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues .

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help:)

Ok @rDell, what trade in credit do we get for the Note 7?

Just read an interesting article thought I share:

https://www.google.ca/amp/bgr.com/2016/10/12/galaxy-note-7-battery-explosions/amp/?client=ms-android...

Apparently Samsung still can't replicate the issue in their labs which is troubling.

Still waiting to hear back about the $150 but honestly Rogers does not deserve to take the hit for this debacle by Samsung.

Hello @wpd1

You don't.. There is no promo at this time for that unless u trade in another phone and they only give u the value of that one.

Agreed. People are very harsh to Samsung but funny saying they'll go for iPhone 7 which also reported an explosion but easy on Apple saying it just an individual incident. They are so angry that Samsung phone made them unsafe but all saying will go for another potential unsafed phone, I just don't get it.

Hello @germain18_2006

There is no alternative. S7edge? I got that already. Lg V20? No interested to me. G4? Battery is worse in this then any phone i owned.

So I'm reality u have the iPhone. To each their own. The iPhone 7 fire problem isn't as bad as the Note 7 one and never went through all the issues and recalls Samsung did over 5 devices or so.

The swap for the S7E is beyond stupid.

Your swapping a higher priced phone for a lower one with no credit or adjustment in subsidy.

They bumped the retail pricing of the S7E up higher after the Note launched.

Essentially, after this recall , Samsung/Carriers think it's fair to not adjust. Maybe it's fair, cause it's seen as a rental fee paid to try out the Note 7 during the time of ownership.

The March deal to upgrade to S7E ShE left an out the door pricing of $200. I spoke to Rogers Management, they said they will let me do a swap or upgrade to the S7E, and they will credit the difference between the phones manually, but they won't let customers get the March pricing. I get that was a promotion, but it's a hard pill to swallow to pay 260 more, 7 months later for the same phone, with no gear VR and no incentives.

Rogers said to go back to the retail locations you bought your accessories from, as its not up to thwm to take care of accessories.

Also, they think the trade in credit of $200 will remain fine cause it should post on the account this month.

Hello @Prospect

Yes anyone with the $200 credit will have it added over to the other device they get.

It's really hard to have had the amazing Note 7 phone and now have to recalibrate expectations with an inferior phone. There's just not another phone out there that can really compete. That said, if I'm looking for a replacement until Note 8, then I have to pick a phone that has a large enough display and retains its value so I can maximize return when selling it next year. The only phone I know of that meets that criteria is the iPhone 7plus. Either that or I stick with my Note 5 but after having the Note 7, my Note 5 feels 5 years old.

Hello @wpd1

The resell value for the iPhone is one of the highest. The problem is that many will exchange it for this one and just sell it.

I called a store near me and they have a 256GB JB 7+ but unfortunately I can't grab it until tomorrow. So most likely won't be there. Plus it's $800 but take the $200 credit it becomes $600. Even then it's expensive.

Yeah... no Flash Sale or anything on the S7/S7E unfortunately, things may change for the weekend ( Please don't quote me on that just speculating)

@Meowmix

Ask them to hold it for you. They should hold it for 24hrs. I assume you've told them your doing a Note 7 replacement so they should be accommodating.

Hello @rDell

I asked and they said unfortunately it's first come first serve basis due to it being a walk in device. So no big deal if they can't, I'll do the refund and go somewhere else I guess. Even the store manager said she couldn't hold it. I know its a 24hr hold but i guess they get their own rules.

The IPhone 7 is definitely the best stop gap solution because of the resale value but going to Apple ecosystem is to difficult for me to adjust. The S7 Edge is a complete rip off with no additional subsidy but closest to Note 7 and even that they are not that close. LG V20 who knows when that will be available and it is less feature packed and Pixel XL is way too expensive to justify as a stop gap. Seriously if this debacle happened with an Edge I would more than happy to upgrade to Note 7. The Note 7 is just too good and new gen phones are less than a year away so it is all about patience now.

I also think with this debacle competitors will see next year as an opportunity to supplant Samsung and their dominance. Next year phones will be exciting.

Do an upgrade on another line, return it tomorrow and put it on your number when you refund the note 7!

Hello @biks21

I called back and the other rep said she would put it on hold but they only had 2 and they are told by head office that they can not out them on hold. But due to my situation she will try too

Honestly, I think you'll get it just because most people don't want to pay $$$ for the 7+, good luck anyways!

Hello @biks21

Most that haven't received the iPhone are on a corporation or business plans which the stores can't handle and also the that model is $800 lol

@biks21. Good idea. I have one waiting for me at the store and will do it on my wife's line.

Thing is in my situation is the iPhone 7 Plus 256Gb is that is has hefty price tag on it. I sold my iPhone 6S plus and Apple watch (gift) for an good chunk of cash last month and the money is still stashed away. Now they still need to apply the $150 device trade in still from the Note and I also have another $120 credit and $20 activation fee waived because of some issues last month with them on a bill coming on my next bill.

So if I go the iPhone way after the entire offset of price with my money and early upgrade and credits I'm still up $420. If I go the S7 edge way I'm up $1000. Either way I'm not out of pocket any extra just have to justify a $600 difference for a phone when it comes down to it.
