Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Reservation numbers / Questions

Hey everyone!!

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Note line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this afternoon announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 7!. The device seem to have amazing specs! Including memory SD card slot, water resistant and most of all, curved screens on both side for the Note Series and Iris scanner!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Product & Services – Wireless & you will see a Red wording saying “Device Reservation" on the main page. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want; Samsung Note 7 Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues .

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help:)

It's time to move on from this phone. As a Note 7 owner and owner of a replacement phone I no longer want to see "statements" pushed out by Samsung PR about the results of their current and past investigation. I want to see details...technical details that can be scrutinize. The halting of sales and production leads me more to believe a flaw has been confirmed and another recall is coming. The next few days will be telling. Hopefully Canadian carriers will follow suit and allow us to exchange. I will probably get the S7 Edge and that's it for me for Samsung mobile. Don't care for the S8 or Note 8. Hopefully LG moves to AMOLED and waterproofing next year with their V30.

If Canadian Carriers follow suit like the US and Overseas which they should and allow us to exchange I would probably go with the Pixel XL. I had the S7 Edge only a few weeks ago and kinda wish I kept it now. I just don't want a phone that is already 6 months old really.

Dropped support of the Note 7 in the US is huge and factor in that with no updates you won't see anything coming from Samsung with Android 7. The US sold the most Note 7s out of all countries. It's a shame because this phone is great and I love it. Just hate the fact that it is plagued with safety issues. Yes even though there are no reports in Canada it's still the same phone that has the issues. I mean only 20k phones in Canada sold compared to over a million in the US. These should be exchanged for another device or refunded

The Note 7 is definitely the best device out there but with the safety issues, travel bans, and going through another potential recall (If it is not discontinued) is too much. Like you said really too bad because there is no phone out there that can outmatch it.

The Pixel XL is a great phone and the Google assistant looks interesting but for me I need the sd card. Plus snapdragons are rubbish. The S7 Edge will have the Exynos.

Hello @phonefan @germain18_2006 @Dx9

I just read this.

" Update – October 10th: According to a report in Reuters, Samsung has confirmed it has “adjusting shipment volumes” to conduct in-depth inspections and to improve quality control. No other details we released."

So this might mean that they know the cause and another recall will happen for the units again. I haven't seen any messages from canadian carriers doing any exchanges. Plus in order for them to do that, Samsung Canada must give them the green light to do so. So it's not only the carriers here.

Lol, at this point I don't mind if they do the recall again or not, I only concerned if they will give me another one or just ask me to change to other models. I want a Note 7 not other models. I will use my Note 7 no matter what as nothing can beat its functionity. At least for a year until the Note 8 is out. 😄

Hello @germain18_2006

If Samsung does another recall and they ask us if we want like a S7 edge or S7 I'll go for the S7 edge as i have had it before if they decide to pull the Note 7. We shall see. Another recall will either happen for the design or internals to be changed and can take a longer time this time.

Another recall makes the Note 7 dead imo. Not many people want this phone after all this stuff with the replacements. With the US dropping support the phone is done. I honestly don't want to be exchanging the phone again for another Note 7. This entire thing has been embarrassing.

Hello @Dx9

Agreed. If they can ask us if we want a S7 edge, I'll get that no problem. But honestly they need to clean up their act on this.

I really hope Samsung Canada allows us to swap out replacement Note 7 phones. My biggest concern is resale value, as I upgrade phones every year and offset the cost of that with the sale of my previous phone. I paid full price for my Note 7, and I doubt I'll be able to get anywhere near what it's worth in a year.

I don't want an S7 Edge, so hopefully we can move to a Pixel XL or V20. That's not a great thing for Samsung, but I'd like the bigger screen.

Hello @IcoHolic

The V20 hasn't been announced by Rogers so that's not a option. The Pixel XL is dead as there is no SD support that is turning down many from it. Also no waterproofing like the Note 7. So many things aren't the same.

The only other device I like and is very similar is the S7 Edge.

Hello @Meowmix

Well, I don't care about the SD slot and I've never had a waterproof phone before the Note 7, and that was never an issue. There's just no other large Android phones out there at the moment.....

Bummer about the V20, it looks nice. There must be QC issues with LG.

Yeah when I sold my iPhone 6S Plus in August along with my Apple watch I got the Note 7 and Gear S2 Classic. I also went and got a Wireless charging stand on Amazon. I've invested some money into Samsung products so to keep my investment going in would need to have an S7 Edge. I should have kept it in the first place after the recall I guess. I was given an exemption from Rogers to return the S7 Edge being over the 30 min limit. I wanted the Note 7 in the first place.

I hear you, I bought the charging stand too... that wasn't cheap.

Hello @Dx9 @IcoHolic

Thats nothing. Try paying $124 for the Backpack battery case, $25 for one case, $45 for another case $55 for the wireless stand up charger and $20 for the screen protector. That's $270 spent on this device which i most likely won't get back. The wireless charger I am fine with but the $124 for the battery case I may not get back, same with the cases.

Gear S2 $300, 2 cases at $50 each and wireless charger at $70. Total invested $470

I was going back and forth between the V20 and Edge. If the V20 had a super AMOLED screen I would probably go with it. I can live without the S Pen and waterproofing and wireless charging is nice but will miss the Iris scanner since I use it quite a lot.

You got the battery pack from crackberry. You've got 60 days to return.

Hello @Dx9

The Gear S2 could be used with any other Samsung product or a standalone unit. I have done that for months. So really it's not a loss unless u use it with ur device every single second lol.

Cases, screen protectors, backpack cases are what are lost now that I see it. Wireless chargers could be used with any other fast charging wireless device.

What I like with the Pixel XL is unlimited Full Resolution pics and videos for life. I don't need an SD card anyways. All my photos and pics are in Google Photos to begin with. My Note 7 is fully setup to my liking with all my apps and I have 47GB left. Storage is never an issue for me
