Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Reservation numbers / Questions

Hey everyone!!

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Note line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this afternoon announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 7!. The device seem to have amazing specs! Including memory SD card slot, water resistant and most of all, curved screens on both side for the Note Series and Iris scanner!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Product & Services – Wireless & you will see a Red wording saying “Device Reservation" on the main page. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want; Samsung Note 7 Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues .

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help:)

I didbt get tge update automatically last night on my replacement phone but I checked manually this morbibg and it started updating withs a 30 second count down. Took a while to install tge 50mb update but I have the green battery icons on my always on display, main battery icon by the click and wheb I press and hold the power button.

Also, I got the sane email from Samsung mentioned a few posts ago... LOL.

Also VOLTE seems to be working OK for me but I have never got WIFI calling to work on my Note 5 or my defective Note 7, so I'll probably have to call Rogers because there must be sonething screwed up on my account. I rarely have a need for it because I have good cell service everywhere I go most of the time.

Hello @comcry

Don't know about @wpd1 case but my old one got the update and didn't even restart my phone. So the gf is late for work haha. The older ones that got the update, didn't get anything other then a little popup everytime you connect the charger explaining to u this device has been recalled and to turn it off.

My replacement Note 7 is in a box not set up. Without the black square of safety, there's no point in even turning it on.

Hello @wpd1

I would say try it and see.. If the update comes up showing the battery indicator green, then u know it's safe. It could be that they didn't change the sticker that's why in their rush.

Well, if they're in a rush and forgot the " symbol " to alert the phone is safe, what else did they miss, forget or do wrong in their haste to get the phone out ? Did they miss or forget to move the imei to the " bad column", etc...

Like most I woke up today and both my Note 7 have been updated. My new Note 7 has the green battery my old is left white and pops up message telling me to power it down and return it. I am charging that phone just to see if it also limits the charge to 60%.

@wpd1 Iike @Meowmix said I would try it. If it updates and you have the green battery then more than likely your phone is good but they goofed on the black box. To me the green indicator especially when I saw my old phone is still white after the update is a much better indicator than the black box.

So, I read an article yesterday from Samsung Global that was posted on here by another person. In it, Samsung Global readily states that the black square on the label is the consumers guide to determine if the phone is safe. Without it, the consumer shouldn't buy it. As such, stores will not be stocking or selling phones without the black square. Makes sense so why would I or anyone purchase this phone ?

That also applies to resale. When I try to resell the phone next year, as I do every year, without the black square I will be challenged to find a buyer and / or get full value for it.

@wpd1 The green battery is a better indicator than the black box and supercedes it IMO because I can easily put the bad phone in the box with the black box.

No you can't switch boxes, the imei is on the label and has to match up with the phone, which has the imei printed on its back side.

@wpd1 But that requires someone to pay attention to the IMEI number or you can switch the sticker at the back of the phone so that would have to dig into the settings to find it. I think if you on the phone and try to update it and you don't get the green battery then it confirms even strongly that you have a dud and I would think they have to give you a new one...they can't use the trust argument because your new phone will pop up warnings everywhere.

Hello @wpd1

Yes but u don't need to box to sell the device. The person will check the IMEI number with Samsung next year and see. That's how I tell my customers to do. The data base will tell them. Months will pass and th system will work as it should. Again do whatever u think is right though.

I'll bet Samsung is sitting there wishing this phone landed in your laps rather than mine.

Samsung has already checked the imei and stated that it's safe so it stands to reason that if they have listed this imei in the safe column, then it should naturally accept the download and turn green.

Based on the garbage they have been regurgitating to me for the last week or so, they really have no idea what's going on with their devices. They have not instilled any confidence in the product I have and based on their own guidance, I nor anyone should buy a phone without the black square.... and I won't.

I appreciate that you guys are more forgiving and less vigilant. I respect that.

It seem that U.S carriers such as verizon and T-mobile are already re selling the Galaxy note 7.I wonder when Rogers and other Canadian providers will be doing the same?.

Selling the phone without the case decreases it's value. Besides, I can't sell it to anyone in good conscious if I suspect there's an issue. That's not right.

Hello @mrivan09

All depends on Samsung Canada and when they give the green light to them.

Hello @wpd1

I do agree with what u are saying. They seem to have went one step forward and 2 steps backwards on this issue with u nd no help at all.

Re: Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Reservation numbers / Questions

@wpd1 trust me I am not so forgiving lol...to be truthful I think I mentioned this in a post  last week where I said the worse thing that could happen is if the exchanged phone they gave is a dud. I would seriously switch to Apple or LG. Even now I don't think I will buy anything from Samsung for awhile and trust me when I say my entire house is full of Samsung appliances. They need to earn my trust back and this whole give the accessories back thing is a joke. They goofed on the execution of the recall big time. I understand the complexity of the operation but where they goofed was not communicating properly externally AND internally. There is no excuse that their own reps are giving misinformation. Their internal communication plan clearly failed.

Anyways, if I was you I would return but if they are refusing to do so then I would update it and if the green battery doesn't show I can't see how they could argue against that. It could be human error that you did not get a black box but for them to error on the black box and the IMEI (which should be proven from the update and not by their words) the probability of that is lower. As for resale, if it updates with a green battery I think that is all buyers will care about.

Bad news for Blue Note 7s....

Just got an email saying that blue replacement are not avaialbe and that I can only get the silver or black on for now...

Quite frustrating but I guess it'll have to do.
