Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Reservation numbers / Questions

Hey everyone!!

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Note line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this afternoon announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 7!. The device seem to have amazing specs! Including memory SD card slot, water resistant and most of all, curved screens on both side for the Note Series and Iris scanner!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Product & Services – Wireless & you will see a Red wording saying “Device Reservation" on the main page. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want; Samsung Note 7 Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues .

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help:)

Hello @angelop

Yeah i seen that. Same information Samsung gave but a bit different.

They won't take back the SD cards as its final sell per say. Many companies aka Best Buy does this. Thus why u get to keep it.. Plus for them the cost is barely nothing

So, I assume I take back to Rogers the first defective Note 7 for refund that I got from them? Any idea who I should return the newer replacement Note 7 to, Rogers or the drop off location Samsung provided with the new phone? Or vice Versa, old defective phone to Samsung drop off and newer defective unit to Rogers? Chicken and egg....

Hello @wpd1

The original unit must be sent back to Rogers as the one u got has the IMEI number tied to the contract. They won't take back the new one as the IMEI an S/N is different.

You can contact the Samsung hotline and ship to to them or drop it off at the location that is nearest to u that shows on the paper. That's the best bety

Compare devices side by side when you get your replacement. My replacement phone has a worse panel. Display is not as white or as bright as the original. Wouldn't have noticed were they not side by side. Please compare and report.

@Meowmix Yup! Scratch that. I totally forgot to remove the screen protector out of the box. That's where the yellow tint came from. 😓

Well, sadly, I returned my first Note 7 this morning. Didn't want to but not left with much choice.

Got a message from Rogers advising that they were informed that all new and safe phones contain the small black square on the label, as most of you have. Rogers suggested that I call Samsung and have mine replaced, so I did.

Upon calling Samsung, they advised that they are unaware of any markings to distinguish safe from defective phones. Nothing they can do. Again, they said if I received a replacement phone from them then I should trust that it's safe, markings on the label or not. I asked them what I'm supposed to do with this phone....... said "use it !"

I'm stuck in the bizzaro world.

On another note, some reading this morning informed that Samsung had up to 1.5 Million phones in the supply chain that had not been distributed when they realized the issue. It suggested that these phones were being "fixed" first before new ones were assembled. If true, that would mean that all replacements being sent out are actually re-manufactured phones for the price of first run units. You would think they would at least include some form of extended device protection for these units. Someone on Youtube pointed out and showed the wording from the warranty that water damage was not covered in the 1 year manufacturers warranty. A remanufactured device could be more suspectible to leaks, unless Samsung has done something to maintain the integrity of the seal. We'll never know since they don't actually communicate in Canada.

Hello @wpd1

I don't think that's what they did. I think with happened is that they had built the phones prior to the recall either with the new batteries or they built them and just opened them up, put in a new battery and replaced the seals and back glass. Again no one knows what is going on.

So I think I'm going to take my replacement note I just got and put in under water for 15 minutes and see what happens. If it has issues then I return my original to Rogers For refund and hand back this replacement note to samsung and get an iPhone

@wpd1 on MobileSyrup they mentioned that someone from Samsung Canada contacted them and confirmed that all new unaffected phones had the black box. You should actually contact them and let them know you received one without a black box. Maybe that will motivate Samsung Canada to make an official announcement which is something they clearly lack behind their counterparts in other countries.

From everything I have been told or read these are "new" phones made with unaffected batteries. But no one can truly know if they opened it and replaced the battery? The best is if they come out and make a statement to clarify all the confusion. Right now there is so much misinformation even internally it seems with their reps consumers are really losing trust. I think Samsung knew or suspected about the battery problems before August 31 when they halted sales. That does not mean they stopped production from China with the ATL batteries. They also probably planned for new devices to go out sooner until governments got involved which is why the days after the initial announcement were a complete mess. I don't think they ever planned initially to get the governments involved or head office was clueless about jurisdiction regulations and laws.

Anyways they can save more face by providing better and consistent information. This will probably be my last Samsung phone and even product for a very long while.

Hello @phonefan

It was confirmed from Samsung Australia that the black marking is a indication as well. So the ones with the black mark are good to go. In this case @wpd1 should return his and have Samsung give them a new one for the troubles.

Samsung Canada has failed to even give out any information or anything. Maybe it's time we all take this to social media? It seems they can not come out and atleast say something. After Health Canada got involved they stopped making any comments or posts related to the issue or anything.

Hey @Meowmix

I actually posted the link to Samsung Australia in this thread I just wish Samsung Canada was more proactive. I guess the market here is too small for them to care? If so goodbye to all my future business. I also read that because of the low volume here they might have diverted units originally meant for China to here to expedite the exchange process but who knows? Step up Samsung Canada your inaction is damaging the brand more than the battery...

Hello @phonefan

That would make sense as we only had what 22,000 units sold in Canada where in the US it was millions and same with China I believe.. So that I could believe.

I just want them to come out and say something atleast

Agreed lack of information and consistency is IMO their biggest problem right now.

Not sure about the China theory though because those units are not suppose to have Samsung at the front unless they took those and added it before sending here.

@Meowmix Did the water test and no issues at all. So I'm satisfied with the seals on the replacement phone
