Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Reservation numbers / Questions

Meowmix

Hey everyone!!

Once again its the time of the year that Samsung announces their new Note line up. I am happy to announce that Samsung this afternoon announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 7!. The device seem to have amazing specs! Including memory SD card slot, water resistant and most of all, curved screens on both side for the Note Series and Iris scanner!

1). Once Rogers has announce when they will add the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to the reservation list & the day comes, sign into your My Rogers account - Product & Services – Wireless & you will see a Red wording saying “Device Reservation" on the main page. Click that & it will take you to the page. Once there you will need to pick which device you want; Samsung Note 7 Black and what other colors they may release it on. You also need to pick the store you want it to go too. Just to make it clear, reservations are for current Rogers wireless customers which have contracts with them. Rogers will put up the Pre order list for people that want to pre order the phone which have no wireless accounts with Rogers. Also just too add below is the meaning of the statues .

- If your status is "OPEN", your reservation has been made and we are awaiting product from our supplier. At this time you can change your pick-up location, contact email address or cancel your reservation.
- If your status is "CANCELLED", your reservation has been cancelled and your reservation fee will be credited back to your account.
- If your status is "IN PROGRESS", we have begun the shipment process and you will not be able to edit or cancel your reservation any longer. The next email you will get will be the one that confirms shipment to the store you chose.
- If your status is "SHIPPED", your device has left our warehouse and is on its way to the store you chose. Keep in mind that you can NOT reserve a device via calling them. It can ONLY happen if the reservation system is down but they will to reserve it via online. Plus if you reserve it via phone, you will NOT see your status or know what number you are VS reserving it online.

2). Please keep in mind that if you pick a Rogers Authorized dealership, you may not be able to get the device soon after it ships. This has been the main issue with all the iPhone reservations & most of the other devices which have been on the reservation system. I would suggest you pick a Local Rogers store (Corporate Rogers store or Rogers Plus) to go to get it. When the Rogers warehouse sends it out, the Rogers stores will get them first. Some of the Rogers Authorized dealers have their own warehouse in which the devices will go to. After that there is no tracking until the device ships from that warehouse & goes to the store & they call you. You can also look for your FlexTab aka upgrade fee online via My Rogers or contact Rogers & they will let you know.

3). Also remember you are going to have to put down a $40 fee to reserve the device. Once it ships out, the $40 fee will be reversed back into your account. IF you want to cancel your reservation, that $40 will also be credit back to you. So either way you will get that $40 back. Also remember you may NOT be the first to get the phone if you have a high number or a low one. The Reservation system is made to have a device reserved for you as the stores will be sold out. If your reservation status still says “ OPEN” after launch & a store has a device in stock, you can still go in the store & get it. Then come back home & cancel the reservation online. If the status is “ IN PROGRESS” & you get a device via a store that have one for u, you have to wait until it ships out & then tell the store that u picked u do not want it. Do reemember the reservation number is CANADA - WIDE. This means if lets say you are #45 in line for the black one, you are #45 for that GB , color & model Canada wide. Also keep in mine you have to be the account holder in order to pick up the device at the store. No one else can. You can try adding a family member as Level on the account but some stores will decline it.

4) .For Corporate / Business customers. You guys will have a different line then regular customers do. This means you guys have a few different statutes then regular customers do. Also keep in mind for the past few years there has been issues / confusen about business customers getting the phones via the reservation. You guys will be getting them the day of launch or after depending on your status & what goes on.

Let's make this thread the only thread for the devices please and if you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me and I'll gladly be able to help:)

Hello @wpd1
When adding the New IMEI on the Hong Kong Samsung site it shows me this.

" The device of this number is not eligible for the Galaxy Note7 Replacement Program in Hong Kong and Macau. The reasons are provided below:
1. Your Galaxy Note7 was purchased from authorised re-sellers or authorised distributors in Hong Kong and Macau. The battery of this device is not provided by the affected supplier, so you can be assured that it is safe for use. Or
2. Your Galaxy Note7 was not purchased from authorised re-sellers or authorised distributors in Hong Kong and Macau. We suggest you inquire from our Customer Service Centres in Hong Kong and Macau or from the country/ region of original purchase."

Lol so maybe it is safe.

@angelop I'm with you on that one. I actually considered it for a minute given the high resale value of the iPhone. In the end tho, for me, going back to the iPhone is like voluntary incarceration.

I think what you're doing is the safest way to get a note 7. At least you will be assured of getting a device that was manufactured after the recall and had not been opened to replace the battery, potentially damaging the water seal. I will likely do the same. It's not worth the risk.

I was told the phones made in Aug 31 from China are safe and use the ATL battery. No way to really know unless we open it. The black box is the key. The green battery indicator will be a software update for new phones.

I just got mine today and it had the black box on the label and manufacturing date of Aug 31, 2016. My old Note 7 was manufactured on Aug 2, 2016 but I wonder if that has a ATL or SDI battery because I read a lot not all phones manufactured in China used the ATL battery anyways. The fact that your new Note 7 did not have the black box is worrying but when was your new phone made @wpd1?

According to Samsung, it was manufactured on 29 Aug, 16.

Hello @wpd1 and @phonefan

The easiest way of knowing is opening u phone app and type *#12580*369# and “Main Version” page will automatically appear. Check the RF Cal and it will show you 2016.08.31. My old note 7 was Manufactured on 2016.08.05

If you got the later date of August 31st date then you have the new battery and u are fine..

I was only told Aug 31. I think everyone who has a Aug 31 has the black box on their label. Can others confirm? @Meowmix heard made in last week so you could be find but the fact you don't have a black box to me is what makes your situation puzzling....I would seriously return yours @wpd1 if they can't answer you about the label.

Regarding your battery pack I heard Samsung shifted production to ATL. I am sure they wont screw up on this one and release SDI battery packs but you might want to make sure.

Hello @phonefan

I guess that is why it took this long to get? It was always on Pre order status with Crackberry and they never got told why it was never sent to them or anything.. Just got the email tracking for it today.. So maybe this one will be with the new battery too.

@Meowmix that is what I am guessing. Also it looks to me like Samsung suspected a battery issue before Aug 31 when they suspended sales I think they were scrambling on how to deal with it PR wise when they offical recalled Sep 2.

I think we can assure we won't get any refurbish phone from Samsung as the Health Canada has a strict rules about it:

http://healthycanadians.gc.ca/recall-alert-rappel-avis/hc-sc/2016/60168r-eng.php

"Please note that the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act prohibits recalled products from being redistributed, sold or even given away in Canada."

Hello @germain18_2006

We were talking about the battery backpack lol. That I do know. So that means the ones we got our new and safe as per the date August 31st.

Good find @germain18_2006

If they screw this up again after the government regulatories get involved they will face even more scrunity but what I don't understand is how @wpd1 didn't receive a box with a label with the black box...

Hello @phonefan

Didn't they have issues 2 week before hand? So most likely they built the phones with the new batteries, packed them up and had them saved for the recall. That's when we applied for one and got those dates in the emails. My guess is that the black little square was there to show u it's a new device wth a new battery but when Health Canada and the US government got involved they changed it to the Blue S symbol which we didn't get. All in all I think we are fine.

@wpd1 I would highly suggest sending urs back and having them send u another out.

Unfortunately I didn't even heard anything of Fedex.  Is it because mine is Blue?

Hello @germain18_2006

Funny part I didn't get a email from FedEx about mine being shipped out either. Found a sticky note on my door asking me to pick it up. My gf last night got a email though. Some of us never got a email with the tracking number it seems. Maybe but we shall see.

All of this is speculation at best. It's odd ( not impossible ) that everyone would have a phone dated 31 Aug unless this was the "remanufacturing" date, which makes sense since the original manfacturing date of my phone is 29 Aug according to Samsung's system, but now shows 31 Aug on my phone ( using the number from @Meowmix ). Again, all could be ok but why risk it ?

Samsung has not provided anything definitive to assess safety and if the black square on the label is it, I don't have one which makes my phone a dud. If everyone else has a black box, it at least provides you some assurance, although you may be using a manufacturer refurbished device and if you're ok paying $ 1049 for that, your choice of course. Naturally, there's no definitive word from Samsung what that black square actually means.

OMG. May be I need to sit in front of my front door and wait for it every afternoon...LOL...:(

Hello @wpd1

Honestly i am taking it as what I see an did believe min is safe. That being said I DO want Samsung Canada to explain what is the purpose of the black square unless it's what I said it is but no word from them.

As for playing that amount? I don't care as to me i am happy with what I got.. Not going to argue about the dollar difference and what not as they sent me a phone that seems to be safe as per what i am seeing so far.

As for urs, i truly hope they send u another one and make it right for u. U don't deserve this. No one does.

To be clear, Health Canada will not allow the defective devices that reached market in Canada to be repaired and resold as new in Canada.

If Samsung had defective devices in China and refurbished them with new batteries, they could be sent into Canada as new devices ( different imei's ).
