When you say "I am sure Rogers is working on a way to get this resolved", just what do you mean exactly? How come you are sure?

Re: Receiving Spam SMS Messages from 33333300x / 22222000x Numbers

How can I get a refund for what you are charging me to receive these messages? Are you sure they are not being sent BY Rogers??? At $0.30 a pop, multiplied by thousands of customers, I'm sure it helps the bottom line!!!

I was getting these messages a while back. I just used my SMS app to block them. The easy way to do it is to create a rule to block all messages from numbers starting with 22222 and 33333. Haven't seen one since I did that.

Re: Receiving Spam SMS Messages from 33333300x / 22222000x Numbers

Hi mousetamer.  Thanks for the response.

I'm getting these sms on a ZTE (cheap) phone.  Is there a way to block them on that?  Thanks.

I have an LG Optimus L1 II E410 phone and also can't find any way to block incoming calls and texts on the phone or by following Android instructions on the web.  However, most telemarketing calls I get on my landline usually come from random spoofed numbers, so trying to block stuff like that is futile. Fortunately, while Rogers has not been able to block all texts from these two numbers, at least I haven't been charged for them.

Hi.

How did you manage not to get charged by Rogers???  I have a "Pay as you go" account (it's an emergency phone) and they charge me $0.30 per message.  (Which is why I'm thinking that these spammers likely have some kind of deal with Rogers).

And there is no customer service for "Pay as you go" so I have to go to a store to complain and get them to re-imburse me...

Regards.

@M_ichel Here is a copy and paste of my transaction history with phone numbers not shown. I didn't actually receive that many spam texts because you can see that 6 of those are all the same time, but none are charged. I also see a mysterious  "Goodwill - text messages" charge farther down which nobody has been able to explain.

If you have been charged for these spam texts, call the PayGo number at 1-800-575-9090. To reach a representative choose option 4, then option 4 again (how to contact Rogers). At the end of the information on how to contact Rogers, you will select option 1 to speak with an a agent.

Hi Oldyeller.  Thanks for the response.

I'm being charged for some SMS, but not all.  Here's a look:

Screen Shot 2016-06-12 at 19.08.39.png

At a Rogers store, I've been told that the "Goodwill - text messages" entries are refunds of spam SMS, applied "automatically"(?) by Rogers.  Although they appear under the heading "Charge", they are in fact a credit, not a charge;  this I was able to verify myself by doing the calculation.

Tomorrow (Monday), I'll try to reach a Rogers rep on the phone, using your instructions.

Thanks.

@M_ichel The Goodwill text messages charge was a couple of months ago, so I can't see anymore what difference it made, but it's in among all the 911 fees and those are all debits, not credits. I'm not big on voodoo accounting.

As for SMS texts not charged, all the ones from Rogers are free. Another odd thing, we both have many  incoming SMS's  with the same time stamps. What's up with that?

Reading all these post and Rogers saying there working on it in June sounds like a bunch of lies.  I mean i'm getting these same spam messages in November now. What exactly are you doing about it Rogers, selling our numbers? For someone who has all Rogers services and pays 400 a month, its bull.

I'm tired of hearing the same line that its being worked on. Its the same story I get with the double text messages and that issue I created a ticket for back on May 9th. I get these spam messages and I've dared not create another ticket.

But honestly these really need to stop and shouldn't have carried on this long. I dont know but are other providers having this issue?

Today when I turned my phone on I got 3 of these. I forwarded them to 7726.

Checking my PayGo history, I see I was charged for receiving one SMS yesterday, probably when they were sent, but my phone hasn't been on for a couple of days. While charging me for getting one spam text is better than for three, it's still annoying. I'm not going to spend time on the phone to Rogers over 30 cents, but maybe I'll keep a record of what I get in a month and then call.

I agree! this is getting a bit ridiculous already. But I suspect ultimately there is nothing Rogers will be able to do because the spam messages will keep evolving and the people behind it will just get more creative and use different techniques to deliver them. Here's hoping it will actually be taken seriously.

Hi everyone,
I've created a contact that has all the numbers that might be used. I've added the contact, blocked it and set it to do not disturb.

I still get the text messages, but at least it doesn't interupt anything.

p.s. Rogers, please add these numbers to some kind of internal blocking system

Re: Receiving Spam SMS Messages from 33333300x / 22222000x Numbers

Hi ericbarnes88,
Rogers can not add these numbers to some kind of internal blocking system because the number you see from the spam you receive is not an actual telephone number, its a special system number that rogers created to identify when people send you a message via email. The spammers are not spamming you via sms, they are spamming you by sending an EMAIL to yourphonenumber@sms.rogers.com or pcs.rogers, com address, yes everybody has one of these addresses they have existed before smart phones were around. now one of the reason they cant block them is because if someone were to send you a genuwine message to yournumber@sms.rogers.com or yournumber@pcs.rogers.com you would not receive it, and this is a service that they still support so they have to make sure it works for "valid" messages too. just keep pressuring them to stop the spam, if the spam doesnt stop, I dont mind if they shut down the @sms.rogers.com gateway completely.

That makes sense, then let us opt out of this feature. I don't know of anyone who has ever used it. Or allow us to create a list of permitted contacts

Re: Receiving Spam SMS Messages from 33333300x / 22222000x Numbers

Great idea.  I'd love to opt out of this feature.  I'm getting these texts several times a day and it's getting very annoying.  I've never once, other than these spammers had someone send me a text via email.

Re: Receiving Spam SMS Messages from 33333300x / 22222000x Numbers

I have been receiving these over the past several months. They mostly come in pairs at any hour of the day, one from 222220000 and one from 333330001. They seem mostly sexual in nature. I just received 2 more this morning. Maybe Rogers can be charged with disseminating porn?

This is getting ridiculous. I'm now getting a few of these a day, with no way of blocking them.

Re: Receiving Spam SMS Messages from 33333300x / 22222000x Numbers

I know, how hard could it possibly be to turn this off?
I don't think Rogers is tight for cash...

Re: Receiving Spam SMS Messages from 33333300x / 22222000x Numbers

I checked the past post, and I'm wondering that does any updated better way to block those 222 333 spam texts, the latest reply I found
