New phone not recognizing old sim card?

Dlink10
I'm here a lot

I recent;y upgraded to a hand-me-down Galaxy Note 4 and it is not recognizing my sim card. It worked fine for the previous owner (family member) so I am unsure of what could be the issue. I did have the sim card cut a bit to fit the new phone (standard size to micro size) and as far as I can tell, only the plastic was cut off and none of the metallic part was cut. I have tried general steps I have seen online including a factory reset of the phone. If I require a new sim, what are my options? Will it change anything about my profile (phone number, account balance, etc.?)

Yes, if the phone was previously on an other provider and was "locked", the previous owner will need to call that provider with his phone information and get it unlocked. This usually takes only a few hours to unlock.  He'll probably need the phone's IMEI number.

When I was given a phone by my generous neighbour, I went into the Rogers store, had my SIM cut and the phone tested at that time. No issues.  If you need a new SIM, you usually need to pay a small fee like $10.  If possible, I suggest you visit a Rogers store. You get to keep your number, etc.

The previous owner..  it was a rogers phone on the rogers network?

If its a Bell phone, it may be locked to the bell network.
The Note4 was out at the time that they were still network locked (vs the NEWER ones are now not locked)

Previous owner was on Rogers too so no issues there. I'll visit a store and try that out as keeping my current number is ideal. Thanks

The stranger slowly began to make his way toward me with the pin and my assole began to get impatient with lust hardcoregaytubeporn.com. I turned around to present my yearning ashole to him and just as I did I looked over to see in front of me a full length mirror, and what I saw instantly made my ashole quiver. There was no stranger behind me readying himself to give me the greatest pleasure I would ever know. The only reflection in the mirror was my own. The stranger was me, and I was the stranger. I stared into the mirror looking at the man I had become and suddenly it all made sense. I realized that I didn't need a man to make me happy or shove a rolling pin in my ashole, because I could probably do it better myself anyway thelivegayporn.com. Then, immediately after making this realization, something startled me: the sound of something rolling towards me. I turned around to see the rolling pin from that morning slowly rolling toward me like a kind old friend, and I smiled.

Hi @huvesuwe,

Welcome to the Rogers Community, we hope all is well with you and your loved ones! A huge congrats on your very first post! 👍

I must say, it is very odd that your nano SIM from your old S9 isn't functioning on your new S20 Ultra, as they accept the same SIM card model. Just to clarify, is this a Rogers device? If not, has the device been successfully unlocked for use on our network?

If it is indeed a Rogers device or an unlocked device, please try inserting the old SIM into your S20 Ultra device followed by a reboot and let us know if this works! If not, please send us a Private Message @CommunityHelps so we can look into your account for you to see what's going on. 😊

Cheers!
