Galaxy S7 Firmware updates

highka
I'm here a lot
When would there be Galaxy S7/Edge users receive OTA firmware updates, containing monthly security patch updates? It's still at April security patch level and users of other carriers have been getting June update as early as late May.
Please do not disregard customer concerns or assume that average customers won't notice or care about the updates thus not making complaints about really late updates.
I hope to be receiving updates, hopefully the latest which willbe July update, soon.

Yep! It's the usual multi CSC build for all carriers so you can go ahead and download any carrier's version and flash it with Odin.

Extract (unzip) the firmware file

Boot Phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked

I did the flash of the Telus firmware last night.  Ber very careful with this and back up everything first.  After flashing it, I was presented with a Passcode screen that is part of the bootloader.  It wanted a password yet none of my passwords or PIN worked and it wipes the phone.

Re: Galaxy S7 Firmware updates

I will wait for.the OTA. But. If we are getting the July update, will it include what we missed by not getting May and June updates?

It's an accumlative update as far as I know.

That's the secure boot feature. I have it enabled, so it popped up on me after flashing (and after every reboot), but it took my passcode fine.

You must have enabled it at some point and forgotton.....

So far, so good for me. I had to flash the bootloader and modem also.

OoOoOoOoO WiFi calling. Let's see if I can get it working....

It was brutal to actually get it to enable, but yes.. it's working for me.

I successfully registered my number and 911 info, activated it and got the SMS from Rogers saying it was working, but it didn't actually enable until several hours later.

Here's a screenshot of it working on my S7 Edge (you can see the wifi calling icon next to the wifi).

Re: Galaxy S7 Firmware updates

Yuo don't need to switch networks. What you need to get timely update direct from Samsung is to buy their unlock phones. I bought the s7 international version and got the july 1 patch as soon as it was released by samsung. Pricey not really but you dont need to stress on security patch or updates.

You are right, except the international version does not have all the Rogers LTE bands...for me I am mainly in urban areas and mostly use band 4 and 7...but other areas may rely on band 12 and 13..

Open up the phone dialer and type in *#0011# and you will see the band in use.

You will also not get all features (VoLTE, etc) if you purchase a non Rogers branded phone.
