App issues on android phone

jdunne
I've been here awhile

Anyone having issues with certain apps not working on their android phone.

Already tried uninstalling/ reinstalling /updating & running virus scans.

When app was uninstalled and reinstalled it would work for one day but not the next day.

Any ideas on how to resolve issue??

Hello @jdunne

Exactly which app are you talking about?

Most of the times it's either if it's not compatible with the device OR you may need to back up the device and do a factory reset to fix the issue.

I have done a factory reset, but still having same issue.

The apps we're having issues with are Roger's anyplace tv, NHL (which came already installed on phone) and WWE.

Checked for updates but there weren't any.

Hello @jdunne

On my buddies S9 he downloaded the apps and they work perfectly.

Which device and OS are you running?. It seems like the device is not accepting the apps for some reason.

Re: App issues on android phone

Hello, @jdunne

Thank you for the device and OS info. As you mentioned in the previous message reinstalling the app will work for one day, I wonder what's preventing the app from working? What exactly happens when you launch the app?

Is the issue happening with any other non-Rogers app?

When the app is not working, can you check how much memory is available on the phone? You can also try closing all the background apps and relaunching the app to see if it works.

Keep us posted.

Cheers,

I know EMUIs app optimizations doesn't play nicely with certain apps.

I would try going into settings/apps, then click the settings gear at the the bottom.

Then tap "special access" at the bottom.

Then "ignore optimizations"

Find the app(s) that are giving you issues in the list.

Tap on the app name, then pick "allow".

Do that for each app that is giving you issues.

Hope that helps.

Re: App issues on android phone

Good afternoon and welcome to the Community @Db69,

Just to clarify, are you referring to the latest android update or the Facebook app update? In addition, may I know what issues are you having with the app? Are you able to launch it? Are you able to sign-in? Does the app crash after using it for a few minutes?

Just need a little bit more info. to assist you further.

I can open facebook but sometimes I only see 1 posting or maybe 6 and sometimes facebook won't connect

Re: App issues on android phone

Thank you for your reply @Db69!

I can definitely understand the inconveniences this causes you.

Is Facebook the only application you're experiencing issues with?

Also, could you please verify if it's happening while connected to Wi-Fi and/or mobile network?

If you performed any troubleshooting since noticing the issue, please let us know.

Looking forward to your reply!

Yes both with Wi-Fi and network facebook is the only one and I have tried everything thanks for your help

Re: App issues on android phone

Hello, @Db69

I appreciate trying everything to resolve the issue, however, if you could list all that was tried that would be helpful to isolate the issue.

When did you first notice the issue? Also, please provide your phone make/model and the OS it's running.

You can also try clearing data/cache then disable the app which should force uninstall the updates. Then you can enable the app and download the updates by visiting Google Play Store.

If the issue is still not resolved I suggest checking with Facebook support.

@Community - anybody else is experiencing a similar issue?

Cheers,
RogersMoin
